I didn't understand it at the time. I fail to achieve any degree of understanding in the ensuing years, which are three in number. I presume Herb means that inherently you cannot be commercial and artistic. You cannot be commercial and quality. You cannot be commercial concurrent with have a preoccupation with the level of storytelling that you want to achieve. And this I have to reject. I don't think calling something commercial tags it with a kind of an odious suggestion that it stinks, that it's something raunchy to be ashamed of. I don't think if you say commercial means to be publicly acceptable, what's wrong with that?
As long as you are not ashamed of anything you write if you're a writer, as long as you're not ashamed of anything you perform if you're an actor, and I'm not ashamed of anything.
This is the area I know. But I think innate in what Herb says is the suggestion made by many people that you can't have public acceptance and still be artistic. And, as I said, I have to reject that.

Inspired by late 90s and early 2000s RnB and jazz, ROM’s diverse production style he calls “ROMderful” also pulls from orchestral music, nature, and for this project he tells us “mainly happiness and good vibes”.

Laced with heavy bass, an uptempo sensibility and wavy chord progressions, ROM brings in singer Emmavie and producer DEFFIE to add their complimentary sounds to this already bubbling White Label installation.

Brew a pot of tea, think positive thoughts and don't look back on what could have been.

 This mix is all about that feeling when someone breaks up with you nicely, but it still hurts just as much. 

You’re left wondering if it would’ve been better to NEVER start dating in the first place. 

Even when it’s “the right thing to do,” that doesn’t mean it doesn’t leave a scar. These songs are a way to explore that feeling, the one that remains when everything’s over and you're left in the silence.

Every lyric in every track was picked for a reason, connecting to those few months of memories. Holding onto the good, letting go of the bad. You want to move on, but those “what if” thoughts keep coming back. 

Breakups make you question if it was all worth it. Was it better to go through the highs and lows, or would it have been easier if it never started? 

Dating is tricky like that. These songs walk through that blurry line, where endings are soft, but the pain is still real.

So yeah, grab your tea, but don’t rush yourself to feel better right away. Sometimes, you need to sit with the sadness, let the music help you feel what’s hard to say, and give yourself time to heal. Moving forward doesn’t always happen in a straight line.

There’s no bitterness here, just a lot of reflection. Even through the hurt, there’s always something to take with you.
