I made this EP over the course of the last 3 years, starting in June 2016 and finishing right up to the last minute before release on May 31, 2019.
Although lyrics are at times overly simple/sparse, 'precious boi's themes are quite strong (for me at least). 
I made most of these songs whilst pondering events that had just happened in my life - whether they be mundane or significant. Each of these songs are a method of processing and learning from life experience. 
I wrote, produced, mixed and mastered this EP all myself at home, at coffee shops, on trains, and in parks around Canberra (my hometown) and Sydney (where I live).

A brief breakdown of each song:

If I Call - the age old question of whether a romantic interest will answer if you call them
The Future - a reminder that our actions and choices have consequences
Coeliac Serenade - a kris kringle gift for a friend back in Christmas 2017
High & Dry - a little tantrum whilst crushing and learning interest is not always reciprocated
Slow Down - made after playing shows on a Friday night then waking up to produce breakfast radio and learning that sleep is important
Growing Pains - learning that life sometimes moves faster than we can keep up with, and to remember my mum's mantra: "be a leader, not a follower"
Ripples - a pensive self reflection. I turned to alcohol a few times to deal with stress/sadness and this song is the moment i realised that was bad

On the broader scheme of things, 'precious boi' is a term I've grown to love. It encompasses someone who wants to challenge negative archetypes of masculinity through self embrace and compassion. My friend Nicole called me it one time whilst drinking a cappuccino with a tiny spoon and the term resonated with me. A precious boi acknowledges their privilege and is committed to do their part to combat issues surrounding problematic masculinity.
