His beats are very vibey So I added some of my Vibes and we created our first of Three Projects Called #GoodVibesOnlyTheAlbum which i made as a tribute to women and will pre release on wine bottles at upcoming shows and concerts . BROOKLYN BASED ARTIST IAMPOPULA HAS RELEASED HIS LATEST ALBUM, A BICOASTAL RAP PROJECT, VIA HIS LABEL INDIGO MUSIC GROUP; LISTEN TO HIS SINGLE ‘DESTINY’ ON SOUNDCLOUD

13TH April 2016, Brooklyn, NY- Brooklyn bred and raised, the musical sound of Junade Hassan, best known as “Iampopula,”  ties in obvious influences from the surrounding culture of his New York upbringing. The fact that ‘Pop’ grew up on the block right behind Biggie Smalls makes it seem that the artist was destined to join the hip-hop game at an early age, which he did. Since the age of 15, having been inspired by his older brother Khalil Hassan (of the Ghetto Prophets), Pop has been honing in on his craft via production, rapping, writing and everything in between. It has led him to his latest venture ‘Same Shit Different State,’ where he seamlessly integrated the laid-back attitude and funk vibe of the West Coast into that authentic, gritty East Coast style of rap. 

Produced by Meech Wells, noted for his work with Snoop Dogg and The Eastsidaz’, and Meech’s son Sean Wells, Pop worked in Torrance, CA (home to NWA) for two weeks with the duo perfecting the West Coast sound to create the skeleton of the CD before returning to Brooklyn to re-record everything and finalize the appropriately titled bi-coastal album, ‘Same Shit Different State.’ Fans can expect a sound reminiscent of the tunes heard when rolling down the strip in Cali, shooting the breeze and smoking the trees, as the album is permeated with funk keyboards over trap drums and even some auto-tune, a first for Pop who stepped into new boundaries in order to fit into the melodic rhythm of the trap sound. 

While the album, which dropped in January, is clearly inspired by his time in LA, the eclectic, self-proclaimed ‘Yankee’ surely pays homage to his Brooklyn roots with his undeniable East-coast vibe throughout.

Raised in the eclectic enclave of Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill, POPULA honed his hip-hop lyricism as a precocious third grader during his first show in elementary school.  POPULA had a knack even then to move the crowd and get his audience involved with his words and after that monumental show he knew that he was destined to be an artist.
 
As the years progressed and his lyrical style slowly developed, POPULA moved to Senegal to complete a pilgrimage that would shape who he was as a person and a musician. He learned from his three years in West Africa that there was a bigger and brighter world outside Brooklyn and that he should always prioritize his family and God above all others. Returning back to Brooklyn with an elevated mind state, POPULA was ready to bring his message of F.L.Y. (Find Love in You) to his current fans and those who had yet to experience his sound.
 
Embedded in the sound influence of POPULA’s songs, you will find traces of Umar Bin Hassan, Black Thought, Outkast, Big Daddy Kane and Bruce Springsteen. This aberrant mix is a great foundation for the musical intonation that POPULA’s supporters have found in his mix tapes and public appearances since 2006.  Each mix tape and appearance provides a new entry into a sound that allows the listener to experience the personable side of POPULA and relate to the music as you sing along to a fun, upbeat and vibrant message.
