Randal Wells is a recording artist, songwriter, and advocate who has been building his career from the ground up for nearly two decades—without a label, and without shortcuts.

After losing his mother at age six, Randal spent his entire childhood in foster care. He moved through over ten homes, survived abuse, and came of age with no family, no safety net, and no map. Music became the only constant. At 21, he appeared on MTV’s Making the Band 4, reaching over 55 million viewers. The exposure gave him national visibility, but no industry safety net followed. What came next was the real work: building a catalog, growing an audience, and staying in it for the long haul.

Under the name “Random Wright,” he released his debut EP 4 Letter Words, earning placements on BBC Radio, SXSW, and ThisIsRnB. He later dropped the alias to reclaim his identity, releasing a string of independent singles as Randal Wells, including “Selfish,” “Life Goes On,” and “Strangers with Memories”—the latter featured on Hypefresh. His music has also been placed on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and he was named a “Know Them Now” Artist by BMI. He’s opened for acts like Amerie, Jon B, Ray J, Next, and Tamia. His work as a songwriter and performer has been shaped by lived experience, not formulas.
