A room, broom, guy and a mirro

The title track is a persistent fluctuation between italo-robotic 4/4 EBM and comb-filtered, sub-heavy stab barrages. Vocoder interjections and feedback leads maintain maximum ebullience throughout. Borrowing its name from the rebranding of Volvic’s French original “Pulse” soft-drink, upon its purchase by Coca-Cola, it has two things we love – a backstory rife with corporate intrigue, and an appropriately effervescent and fruity aftertaste. And it’s a rare (and delightful) occurrence when we can describe a track this way both literally, and figuratively.

Twin Turbo kicks off 2013 with an EP of club-rocking house-jackers from Scottish prodigies Clouds.

Following a year that saw their critical stature soar and made fans of a growing legion of techno stars (Chris Liebing and Gary Beck both named "Consciousness" the top track of 2012), Clouds take a break from their maturation process to crank out a few knee-jerk tracks built for the masses, each crafted around a catchy hip-hop inflected vocal hook. 

"Terrorcore" will scare the living sweat out of you with a deadly parade of monstrous toms and vocal sample that will force you to work through your cash-flow anxiety on the dancefloor. "Local Bubble" is the housiest, funkiest thing Clouds have ever done, a supremely playable record that will surely find a crossover audience. Finally, "HE_1523_0901", pumps the bass up with Clouds's signature distorted kickdrum sound, a minimal arrangement with more clever vocal cuts.

Twin Turbo - starting the new year with new bombs for a new generation of party people, some of whom are too young to remember when we invented high-energy dance music back in 2011.

Crackboy returns to I’m a Cliché for a second EP with the label. Crackboy, the mysterious and anynomous beat junkie, so skilled at blending timeless hyper dirty sounds, for the first time has made room for original vocals. He presents three new killer tracks.

1. First track “Apes” is a sexy house song made for taking one’s shirt off on the dancefloor. Vocals are sung by a previous member of the band Haussmann, Claude Violante, now colabrorating with Crackboy for her solo projects.

2. On the second “User”, a sampled ghettoish speech with aggressive claps and ecstatic chords leads to climax halfway through. “The fucking monkeys are coming”, says the guy. Picture them on the dancefloor, now.

3. The closing track “Kiddo” is all about muscled acid and soundsystems being given a rough time.
