Alternative rock songwriter Edward Sansom explores the darker realms of guitar-driven pop on his electric new single ‘Suck It Up’.  
Distributed via AWAL, this is the beginning of a run of exciting new songs from Sansom.

Written before the pandemic hit, the UK artist and producer offers up an eerily accurate epilogue that has artistically foreshadowed the story of our recent lockdown.  Discussing feelings of isolation and escapism, Sansom reflects on internalised feelings of silent frustration and exhales these emotions through moorish guitar riffs and unapologetic bass.

Providing some more insight into the track, Edward says “The song reflects my feelings of isolation in a digital world. It acts as a circuit breaker to all the noise”

Born and raised in Brighton, Sansom has spent his time weaving his highly-charged sound into a shape that echoes modern society. With a dark, melodic turn of phrase, mirroring the likes of The Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie and Foals, it’s no surprise that he has broken out of his seaside hometown with performances at Glastonbury, Isle Of Wight and Camden Rocks as well as local shows at The Great Escape and BN1 Festival.

Despite an inclination towards the darker nooks and crannies of reality, Edward Sansom’s music is both “catchy as hell” and full of heart, and he’s bound to get the dancefloors moving with the release of his EP later this summer.

“White Swan” is the final single of the year from SANSOM.   A haunting reflection on lockdown life.  I wanted to capture the strange and beautiful choreography of isolation on the streets in Brighton.   The everyday lockdown moments which became timeless.     

The song will be released on Monday 10th November.   In conjunction with New Music Monday releases.   

I'm aiming for an anthemic, yet thought-provoking close to the year, and a reminder that even apart, we can stay connected.

Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Bowie, SANSOM's charged sound is reminiscent of bands such as QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys, and Foals. Having made a mark beyond his hometown, SANSOM has graced prestigious festival lineups, including Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, and Camden Rocks.
