New York-by-way-of-Florida artist, Shacar shares the cinematic and haunting new visuals for “Ghost,” a bluesy joint about heartbreak and letting go from his upcoming EP, 'Chapter Two: Absent Hotel. NYC, 9PM.'

The song’s vibe is captured beautifully by director Peter Pascucci, a NYU Tisch School of the Arts student who previously worked with Shacar on his trippy “Head in the Clouds” visuals. Pascucci uses the rising vocalist’s sing-song approach to his advantage here, placing Shacar in the shoes of an old-school charmer crooning his tune to a former lover. 

There’s also plenty of heady imagery thrown around, including a borderline-chilling scene in a bathtub that unravels within the video’s narrative. Not to be overlooked is the guest feature from Santos, who kicks his dead-eyed verse while spread across jagged rocks. Most of the video, however, takes place within the Village Vanguard, the iconic venue where John Coltrane gave some of his best performances in the 1960s. And that’s only fitting given the jazzy vibes of “Ghost,” which was produced by the sunshine state’s, PointBlank.

For those unfamiliar with his work, Shacar has been steadily building a following through a string of live shows and standout singles, such as “Ghost” and “Head in the Clouds.” Make sure to keep an eye on the kid, as it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches on.

In addition to the video release, the track itself is now available for stream and download through all major digital retailers via NY indie label Paradice Records. And on July 18, they’ll release his new EP, 'Chapter Two: Absent Hotel. NYC, 9PM.'

Loss, heartbreak, selfishness, ambition, faith—rising NYC artist Shacar addresses these topics with a deft hand on his sophomore EP, 'Chapter Two: Absent Hotel. NYC, 9PM,' which seamlessly blends the best elements of rap, R&B, soul, and jazz.

The five tracks on 'Chapter Two,' may hop around sonically, but they share a common thread through the lens of Shacar, a passionate twenty-something with dreams. And it’s his goal to get his music heard that’s often tied to the aforementioned pain, which he addresses immediately on opener “Selfish.” Backed by SAVON’s atmospheric instrumental, Shacar’s vocals are both melodic and emotional, especially on the refrain “Feel like… we all deserve to be happy.”

Those words set the tone for the remainder of 'Chapter Two,' though it’s not an all-out moody listen. Shacar ramps up the energy on the soulful, Ollie Beats-produced “Holy Hell” in addition to closer “Unity,” which is produced by FORTUNE, and absolutely slaps. But he also slows it down to spit some slick, dream-chasing rhymes over Kxngs’ woozy beat on “Far Away (Interlude)” before exploring that concept fully on lead single “Ghost.” The jazzy, PointBlank-produced track includes the project’s only feature, rapper Santos, and finds Shacar at his most introspective and vocally experimental.

The EP arrives just over a year removed from its predecessor and the vocalist’s debut, 'Chapter One: Screaming Without a Voice.' And while that effort and its four tracks were indeed impressive, Shacar has stepped up his game for Chapter Two with tighter bars and sharper songwriting. We’re in the midst of watching a talented young artist find his stride, and y’all better keep up before you get left behind. 'Chapter Two: Absent Hotel. NYC, 9PM' is now available for free download via AudioMack.
