April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984

Il y a 39 ans, Marvin Gaye était assassiné par son propre père.
J'ai fait le second volet de mes "Voxtapes" en lui rendant hommage.
Une sorte de petit documentaire musical, plein d'archives récupérées sur le net, mes cd, mes mini-disc, mes VHS ...
Vous y retrouverez Duke Ellington, que Marvin aimait beaucoup, dans un très bel extrait piano solo, puis D'Angelo, dans une sublime version piano-voix-dictaphone d'Africa, titre dédié à son fils... car fort heureusement, tous les pères ne tuent pas leur fils, nombreux sont ceux qui les aiment..
Au point que certains de ces fils, leur rendent parfois hommage avec tendresse en écrivant le lendemain de leur mort, comme Chopin, une de ses plus belles berceuses, la numéro 9...
Il n'y aura jamais plus mauvais poisson d'avril que celui du 1er Avril 1984, et jamais plus belle interprétation d'April Fools que celle du guitariste Earl Klugh, divin... Divin comme cette interprétation de Wholy Holy par "Riri" Aretha Franklin ou ce déchirant acapella de Marvin dans une église d'Ostende.
Divin et profane, dieu et le sexe, les femmes, le suicide envisagé... Les "soirée"s seul à hésiter, comme Bill Evans, entre le piano et la seringue.
Enfin, un petit edit maison de "What's going on", et le dernier mot à Stevie Wonder , qui fait tout mieux que tout le monde, y compris les éloges funèbres.
