I wrote this one in my bedroom the day after hearing some pretty devastating news that could potentially change the trajectory of my college education, my music career, and my life as a whole – all in a very short span of time. But after a long conversation with my mom – one of the strongest people I know, who has gone through so much more than I ever could and has still been there for me at the lowest points in my life, no matter how great of a distance there was between us – I realized that there is absolutely no point in worrying about the circumstances over which I have no control. 

So I stopped worrying and began writing.

"For You" serves as a letter of reassurance to myself that there is not a single problem that life can throw at us that we wouldn't be able to handle. Regardless of any obstacles that would come our way, regardless of the ridiculous number of complications that continue to pile up, regardless of the many issues we have yet to resolve – there is a still small voice promising that we would be okay, that I would be okay. It's just a matter of keeping my head up, having a little faith, and sticking around long enough to see it through. And maybe there's a word somewhere in this song for you too. You are loved, you are valued, and you are a beautiful addition to this world. No matter what you're going through, you too will be okay.
