lazarus schaefer of phantomverse encouraged me to do some remixes to learn more about making music. sure enough i decided to do a remix of a song from one of my favourite bands; while i would have preferred to do around the fur, dai the flu, bored, or basically anything that wasn't change (in the house of flies) as that has been remixed and covered to hell and back, i couldn't find any vocal tracks - so i figured i would do minerva instead.

i wrote this during a time that i felt like i was going to lose my friends in a span of a few months. there were a lot of feelings and actions - love, leading to triangulation, leading to anger and fear, leading to loss - and confessions made that ultimately was just a bit too fast for comfort. but in the end we're still here, despite everything so far.

i composed this when i was in a weird state - i didn't quite feel like myself, and i lost sleep. i wasn't hypomanic like how i usually am when i lose sleep - but i was moreso just kind of there; not as a physical person but just as a strange entity contained in my house. at the time, i didn't know if i was a ghost - but i did have a weird feeling that occupying space wasn't something i could do. woke up the next day with several small bruises on my legs from bumping into things.

also as far as production stories go: i jokingly added some jerma985 vocal samples to this a few days after - namely him going on about how "[his] programming is just [to] get that fucking guy right now", but then turning this song into a jerma shitpost felt kinda like i was taking the piss out of how i was feeling. don't get me wrong, i'm an avid pisstaker but this felt mildly inappropriate

i was racking my brain to come up with more songs to go on my 'wake the dead' ep, and sure enough i tinkered around with some melodies - and, well... here we are. oddly enough, the lyrics to this song was inspired by a collection of friendlyjordies videos i watched not too long ago. with that taken into account, could this song be considered political? probably - that's up for you to decide.
