Carl Haze, an Austrian born DJ living in the middle of the capital Vienna. The sound of Carl Haze is a mix between modern peak time techno and hypnotic melodies. By the use of dark, acid, melodic and haunting elements, the listeners will go on a journey trough their mind.

Carl Haze about the release: "I made this EP when it was lockdown in Vienna, was inspired to make faster and harder Techno than usual. All three Tracks containing a dark vocal sample, a big lead synth and hard-hitting drums. This kind of tracks i like to play at the end of my DJ sets.".

“Opal” is a lucid, iridescent techno piece built around the idea of shifting color. The palette is glassy and translucent: FM-style bells, airy pads with slow chorus, a warm, rounded sub, and brushed-noise hats. A tight 4/4 anchors the floor while small, circular figures—three-over-four plucks and rotating delay taps—move across it like facets catching light. Harmony stays suspended (sus2/sus4 voicings, gentle detune), letting micro-modulations and filter morphs provide motion instead of heavy chord changes.

Arrangement

Intro: soft hiss, a distant bell tone, then a dry kick and muted chord stab establish the frame.

Development: the “facet” motif appears in call-and-response; short Haas offsets and mid/side automation widen, then fold the image.

Breakdown: drums thin to sub and drone; a single iridescent pad blooms with granular shimmer.

Return/Lift: crisp hats, a slightly brighter transient on the kick, and a more articulated bass contour increase momentum without crowding.

Coda: elements strip to bell, chord tail, and room tone—light fades rather than cuts.

The result is understated but radiant: functional for late sets, detailed enough for headphone listening; a study in clarity, space, and subtle motion.
