Music over this festive period has been a bit of a washout, with lots of Christmas gigs having to be dropped due to illness! So, I decided to put a new band together at home, and gathered the wife and kids together to write a Christmas song... We started this on the 22nd Dec and wrote, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered it in just two days!

We are all suffering or recovering from coughs and colds, so our voices are a little off and the mix maybe a bit unbalanced due to my blocked ears, but this is a Merry Christmas from all of us in the Husbands household!

My good friend and adopted Niece Cindi has been out playing gigs with me and her Dad since she was about 13 years old and over the years has fronted a couple of talented local covers bands as lead vocalist. We have written a couple of songs together in the past, but recently Cindi asked if we could write something new, so we did...

Will we still be eating a large feast to celebrate, because it seems, meat, nuts, just eating in general is bad for our health these days... We live in a time where everything is questioned by someone, and it kinda of takes the fun out of it all... What will become of Christmas?

What I'd Like At Christmas

The Perfect Circle of Sound, otherwise known as the Old or Ancient Solfeggio Scale is a musical scale consisting of 6 notes, namely Ut, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol and La and they were allegedly used by Gregorian Monks in their chants!

Dr. Joseph Puleo has apparently found the frequencies for this scale, along with their supposed special powers including one frequency that we know todays science actually uses to help repair DNA... according to some articles on the internet. 
The notes are:
UT – 396 Hz – Liberating Guilt and Fear 
RE – 417 Hz – Undoing Situations and Facilitating Change 
MI – 528 Hz – Transformation and Miracles (DNA Repair) 
FA – 639 Hz – Connecting/Relationships 
SOL – 741 Hz – Awakening Intuition 
LA – 852 Hz – Returning to Spiritual Order

Being of a curious nature I downloaded a free Tone Generator from the web and dialled in the frequencies and then sampled the sounds, giving me just 6 notes... So I decided to throw them into Garageband, and I arranged the song by copy and pasting each note in the arranger window as audio, not as midi. I then went bonkers with the effects and transposed parts and this was the final result. A weird, electronic, eerie kind of 8-bit orchestra! I think I have been spending too much time with Lapskin and Rex!

I am a firm believer in the science of sound and frequency waves, but I don't know for sure if this track is going to cure your ills or help your relationships, but hey, worth a try!

I would love to hear some remixes using this, some big beats, percussion, or some haunting vocals maybe? 120bpm

Perfect Circle Of Scale Pt. II

Ian Husbands, also known under the musical banner of 8 Month Malfunction is a singer/songwriter/producer who creates indie music from the comfort of his own living room using Logic Studio, as well as playing live covers with From The Ashes and the fREAK-JAM-Band every Thursday at Mr Bumble in Camberley.

Ian was previously the vocalist in indie band fREAK-1-C who released their debut album "Swimming With The Big Fish" in 2004 before splitting in 2005. Ian then formed 8 Month Malfunction as a solo project which was published and released by Electric Horse Songs Ltd. in 2006. The format of the project changed when Ian settled down and had children, but he continues to write and play live when the opportunity arises.
