"Animal" was written during the tail end of denial—the moment where I finally stopped giving the benefit of the doubt and started giving myself back the benefit of clarity.

There’s a rage underneath these lines, yeah… but it’s not just anger. It’s grief that matured into indifference. The hardest part wasn’t losing the relationship—it was realizing I was the only one treating it like it meant anything at all.

This song is about reclaiming reality from someone else’s fiction. About burning down the fantasy house they built in your name—and refusing to ever go back inside.

In the context of the COTC project, "Animal" is the throat rip. The chapter where love songs die and the storyteller takes the mic back.
