For the Crow Hill Company composer challenge. 

This was made using exclusively the free “Vaults” instruments from Crow Hill. 

The brief didn’t specify to use only Vaults, just to include them all, however I decided to keep to Vaults alone as they fitted well. 

The Mode given / chosen from the competition page is E-Phrygian. 

To make some “different” sounding instruments I just used sound design via FX plugins from Logic X and Reason 11 and BlueCat. For example the “bell” sound is actually from the Vaults Celestatone.

This month's Composer Challenge from The Crow Hill Company was to write an "Enchanting" track using their free Celestatone Vaults instrument. This took me in directions I've never written in before, that's for sure. Ethereal pads, warm piano, flutes and reeds, harp glisses, distant percussion.. and of course the Celesta all feature. I think it's enchanting..?

Giles M - Arger Fen

Made using Only the free Crowhill Vaults instrument plugins, and nothing else except effects. For the CrowHill music competition of June ‘24. Thinking of doing an additional version perhaps with more gaps in percussion and things like that as I feel it’s a bit OTT here, but pretty happy with the vibe of it😎 I used effects to try and sculpt unique sounds from the vaults and used lots of layering as well. The main challenges were getting the  multiple instances to not produce too much room / reverb sound on top of each other and things like that.  A lot of distortion effects and warps like flangers phasers echos delays etc were used. This was mixed with clean instances of the vaults as well for contrast. Also harsh eq profiles on further instances to try and find ways to put missing frequency content into the mix.

Dead Scream

Made with CrowHill Vaults, with FX added. Predominantly Vaults Orchestral FX and Shimmer Guitar. Also CrowHIll Cosmos and other Vaults used for background and accompaniment. “Heartbeat” sound made from Studio Drums. Bass stabs and most lead parts with Shimmer Guitar, long pitched bass notes with Cosmos and chorus synth, light percussion with Studio Drums, brief intro strings with R&D Strings, slight melody layering with Celestatone. Written for the November Crow Hill Composer Challenge.
