Driving Music was written to short piece to introduce 'A Guide to Driving Abroad' - a DVD series by Bridge Driving Agency. The music begins slightly anxiously showing the discomfort felt on the foreign roads but, through an inverted piano motif, resolves to tranquility representing the comfort gained after watching the DVD.

Ian is an accomplished arranger and composer. A graduate of the University of Birmingham, he studied composition with Vic Hoyland gaining a first in his studies. His final year composition, Fragments, was rehearsed and recorded by the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group in April 2010. He went on to win the University of Birmingham composition prize that year, judged by John Joubert, for his large-scale orchestral work, Repercussions. 

Since his time at university, he has also had considerable success as an arranger and orchestrator working with professional orchestras such as the CBSO and BBC Philharmonic. Notable projects include orchestrations of silent film piano scores for composer Carl Davis and arranging Bollywood tracks for a celebration of RD Burman, performed at numerous concerts and broadcast on the BBC Asian Network. 

His fanfare and national anthem arrangement was commissioned for the 90th Birthday of HM The Queen and has since been performed at a number of other events.
