Electronic soundtrack for a short experimental film completed in January 2022. The piece is composed of sounds from Hellitron tone generators.

Moved By Stealth

Musique concrete composition made purely from the sounds from a racing bike. These were recorded digitally and also on reel to reel recorder, to generate a series of tape loops. All the sounds were assembled and multi-tracked, and basic manipulations of speed changing and reversal were employed.  
The complete piece runs for 5`40.

From A Different Angle (excerpt)

Electronic composition from April 2014, featuring Helliwell's self-built Percussimate drum machine, and his Hellitron Stylus. Additional sounds were generated with the Hellisizer 4000.

Speed Learn (excerpt)

Soundtrack from 2006 commissioned by Ben Rivers for his short film, House. The completed music was eventually rejected and never used with the film, a shorter version of which exists on youtube without any sound. This is the unabridged original soundtrack, made with Hellitron tone generators, radio and Gem electric organ.

Created especially for the #stylophone50 competition, the track was recorded using two self-built Hellitron Stylus machines, the Percussimate and an original Stylophone.

Hellitronic Stylophonic

An excerpt of an electronic music soundtrack created for a commercially released silent super 8 documentary film, giving an overview of the many pavilions at Expo 70 in Osaka. The music was made with various Hellitron tone generators and Hellitron Stylus machines, and the complete track involves 55 different recorded sequences.

Expo 70 In Japan (excerpt)

Composed as a companion piece to Hellitronic Stylophonic - Helliwell's entry for the ill-fated Stylophone 50 competition in 2018 - this excerpt gives a flavour of the complementary track. It was made with various stylus machines - from vintage Stylophones to probe activated Hellitrons, alongside the Percussimate rhythm machine.

A part of an electronic piece created with various Hellitron tone generators in April 2018, and improved and remixed in December 2019.

Triangulation (excerpt)

An electronic music interpretation of JG Ballard's short story, The Assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Considered as a Downhill Motor Race, written in 1965. The text was spoken twice by Vicky Fenlon, and the electronic sounds were created with several Hellitron tone generators.

The piece was composed in November 2013, to be played at a special multi-media event marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, organised with the Cinecity film festival in Brighton. The event included an installation, paintings, performances, readings, films and a puppet show recreation of the fatal shooting.

The electronic piece was revised in July 2020, and this is the new mix.
