Canadian label Echo Locations enlists Berlin-based producer Svedstorm to explore the stylistic depths of uptempo dub techno with "The City Where It's Always Night."

Originally from Copenhagen, it was here that Svedstorm was introduced to dub techno at an early age through artists like Lulu Rouge and the legendary Echocord label. Although he's produced different genres under various aliases in the past, the groovy melancholia of dub techno has continued calling to him.

On "The City Where It’s Always Night," he presents three different flavours of his beloved genre along with a remix of the title track by fellow Berliner Volpe.

"Neep Noop" highlights the genre's affinity for subtlety and sparseness. A progression of muted bells and echoing synth stabs places the emphasis on the track's low bassline, making this an offering primed for big bass bins and intimate settings.

"On Land" explores the melodic side of dub techno with layers of harmonizing instrumentation. Atmospheric background melodies and fleeting pulses of synthesized sounds come together with bouncy hi-hats and a deep kick to create a warm and hypnotic soundscape.

"The City Where It’s Always Night" presents a gritty take on the genre with raw kicks and snares reminiscent of garage. This addictive beat remains the focal point of the track as delayed chords weave in and out, creating a charged atmosphere of minimalism and serenity.

Volpe takes the title track in a more stripped-down and housey direction, opting for a slower tempo and a deep organic bassline. The echoing chords are stretched further apart, creating a sense of spaciousness over the driving force of crisp hi-hats.

As resident DJ at CherryMoon in Gent, Belgium he's played alongside figures such as Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Moby, Dave Clark, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier , Green velvet , and many more.

2014 already seems to signal a period of new growth and regeneration for Davis with a major new releases for UK label Skint Records ( Fatboy Slim ) Girlz in wonderland , New Skin and Changed featuring Skye (Morcheeba's) on vocals , and Davis has returned the favour, contributing a remix of Skye's own single Nowhere for PIAS Records UK.

This chapter reflects on the strength we draw from those we love. Even when they leave, their light always finds a way to guide us. It is an intimate homage to that invisible energy that transcends absence.

Jan Zelinger, known under his artistic name Ian Kita, has been active on the electronic music scene since the late 1990s. He began DJing in 1998, when he first got familiar with mixing on turntables. Since 1999, he has been actively performing at club nights and large festivals such as Hradhouse, Citadela, Summer of Love, Beat for Love, Coal Festival, and many others. In addition to performances across the Czech Republic, he has also played in Germany, Poland, Luxembourg, and Slovakia.

He has appeared as a guest on several radio stations – including Rádio Jih, Kiss Publikum, Fajn Radio, Techno Live Sets Radio, and Rádio Svit Zlín, where he hosted his own show "Lords Radio Show."

He began producing his own music in 2001. His first vinyl record, titled Volkom, was released in 2003 on the Samopal Records label. In 2011, he released his first solo EP I Have to Say on Naked Records. Since then, he has released music on labels such as Natura Viva, Black Square Recordings, Egothermia Records, Yin Yang Records, Baikonur Records, Licker Records, Ushuaia Music, Family Grooves, Plastik Galaxy, and many more.

He has been performing under the pseudonym Ian Kita since 2011. His work ranges between Techno, Tech House, and Deep House. He is the founder and resident of the longest-running club night in the Zlín region – 100% Tech House – and since 2021, he has also co-organized the Sklep House series at Sklep 33 in Zlín, together with DJ Manisch.

He was an ambassador for the MOAI Ecosystem project. In 2023, he placed 3rd in the Bass Awards in the DJ and Producer of the Year categories for the Czech Republic. In 2024, he won 3rd place in the Techno Producer of the Year category.
