Premiering at drummer Mia’s final jazz recital at Monash University, Mia in Motian quickly cemented their place in the jazz world by opening the stage for Sandy Evans and Morgana at the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival in 2022. Known for their electrifying energy, distinctive compositions, and contemporary sound, Mia in Motian returns to captivate audiences with their dynamic chemistry and artistry as a cohesive, genre-bending ensemble. From pieces featuring odd-time signatures with quirky yet irresistibly catchy melodies and tight grooves, to funk and neo-soul inspired tracks that invite audiences to dance, Mia in Motian blends complexity with accessibility.
