My first official remix of a housetrack.
Originally released on Animus Records (It) 1998 (or perhaps even before that time). I always liked the original a lot, but way too short (3:24) with a terrible outro.
A great deal of work went into rearanging and adding to get to where this track is today. Enjoy your walk in the sun!

Man Ray - summer 88 - EP, Peter Hook and producer Phil Murphy creating acid house tracks evoking the style & euphoria felt during that epic “Summer of Love” at The Haçienda nightclub. Revisiting the staple sounds of the period with a modern twist, the duo used analogue technology to recreate precisely the sounds belting through the summer of ’88. A mixture of classic Roland synths & drum machines were employed to simulate the early acid house vibes with samples only being used for sound effects, making both tracks feel naturally timeless.

“We’re On It” presents itself as a twisting laid back groove, permeated with references to early Detroit & Chicago house music and the classic elements of the lighter side of acid. Hook recalls his memories of the era spoken word style, as the track bobs & weaves and breaks up & down with a pulsating bassline, elegant synths & a cooly defined grace.

Man Ray - summer 88 - EP, Peter Hook and producer Phil Murphy creating acid house tracks evoking the style &amp; euphoria felt during that epic “Summer of Love” at The Haçienda nightclub. “Ways Of Making Music” contains a Hook voice over and mixes in classic breakbeats, rave sirens &amp; floor shaking electro bass, displaying a harsher, more abrasive acid style. Reminiscent of middle of the dancefloor Haçienda action from way back, the whistles, Todd Terry-esque keyboard stabs and sense of musical adventure recall the euphoric freedom &amp; passion of the acid house revolution at the Haçienda.
