Emorold Anthony Phillip d'abord sous le nom de Robin, c'est la légende Lord Kitchener qui lui donnera le surnom de Valentino puis Brother Valentino en référence au mouvement Black Power.
C'est au début des années 70 que son style kaiso-reggae arrive à maturité et où il va enchaîner les tubes, "Life Is A Stage" (1972), "Barking Dogs" (1974), "Dis Place Nice" (1975), "Ah Wo (Brand New Revolution)" repris par Guts, "Birds That Fly High" (1982).
Puis le fameux "Stay Up Zimbabwe" en 1979, redoutable hymne pour l'indépendance du Zimbabwe.
