MTG searched the jungles across the Globe and these master Monkeys is what we found.  First off is Quadrat Beat from Latvia.  Quadrat Beat gives us 11 tracks in under 15 min... Whaaaaaaaat?  He blends them like a master chef of beats, giving us a look into why he is one of the most sought after breaks acts around.  Next is USA resident Monkey DANKS.  You know what your gonna get from this guy, banging breaks hits that keep your azz on tha dance floor at all times.  Next another Latvian sensation and one of the prestigious Ibreaks family, Under This gives us four tracks with groovin melodies, heavy vocals, and oh yes some of that old acid flavor that always brings the club crowd to their feet.  Under This also gives us a NEW RELEASE OUT TODAY OCT 22 called Enigma.  Then its off to the UK with Sir Breakneck.  He gives us that old/nuskool flavor that he is world famous for dropping, giving us yet another style of breaks in this already action packed mix.  And last but not least is Play Moore from USA.  He shows us why he is one of the fastest up and coming acts in breaks, giving us yet another fully loaded 15 min with 8 smashing breaks tracks.  On top of that this multi talented monkey Play Moore gave us the awesome art for this release, BIG UPS MATE!

Meanwhile scores of people stood around in the darkened gallery straining to hear every word of the amazing poetry reading as I wandered from group to group, facing them and facing away from the stage, urging them to glug a slug from the jug, or wandered back and sat on the right side of the stage giving out little wows and yesses of approval and even whole sentences of comment with nobody's invitation but in the general gaiety nobody's disapproval either. It was a great night. Delicate Francis DaPavia read, from delicate onionskin, yellow pages, or pink, which he kept flipping carefully with long white fingers, the poems of bis dead chum Altman who'd eaten too much peyote in Chihuahua (or died of polio, one) but read none of his own poems—a charming elegy in itself to the memory of the dead young poet, enough to draw tears from the Cervantes of Chapter Seven, and read them in a delicate Englishy voice that had me crying with inside laughter though I later got to know Francis and liked him.

A special mention goes to track 2, Construct Dust. Several years ago, Ott visited Don Brown, aka Deviceful, at his studio.while he was in town (they had been in touch for years, and it was great to finally have a proper visit for a few days). After experimenting with some gated chords, DBX compressors, Ott’s incredible bass line, and some backing percussion, a groove emerged. It was just a short construct, though, and ultimately ended up in the hard drive dustbin. Ott believed it deserved to become a full track, so here it is—even if “soon” turned into years. His original bass line is still in the intro, and the final creation stays true to it.

“We Must Unite” is a straight up peak time party tune with a catchy Spanish guitar and horn loop providing the backbone, whilst a huge bassline dominates the frequency range. A tasteful vocal line brings some added ear candy, but it’s the beats and bass that really give this one the energy to make it truly peak time!

“Influx” delves deeper with precision perfect crisp beats, a twisted cut up vocal, and a synth line that lifts the track to a floatier, progressive place.  Ambient pads in the breakdown give it a warm feel whilst still remaining firmly in dance floor territory.  One for the 4 AM heads!
