Diplo & Friends BBCR1XTRA: Decemeber 1st (Rollerskating Thru The Universe)

Opening your dance music account with a remix of one our all time absolute faves is never a bad place to start. 

Psychemagik's vinyl re-edit of  Fleetwood Mac's 'Everywhere' at the end of 2010 not only worked its way into the bags of veterans such as Greg Wilson and Tom Middleton, it etched their names into the consciousness of clubbers (old and new) awake to fresh, funk-laden forms of disco-inflected deep house.

Ever since, it's been plain sailing for a partnership from the UK who've committed a string of re-edits onto their eponymous imprint as well as taking remix credit for the likes of Azari & III, Metronomy and Crystal Fighters. It wasn't long until productions from scratch began to appear, their inaugural Crosstown Rebels release 'Black Noir Schwarz' surfacing with Tensnake and Mineo remixes in February of this year.

But, perhaps, it's the duo's DJ sets that've benefited them most. Throwing together everything from vintage disco to Chicago house classic and more stripped back fodder, they're crate-digging wit has earned them life-long memories at summer festivals and sunset boat parties all over. This diverse collection of acid-inspired house is a prime example of why.

With a career spanning 14 years, Jake Fairley aka @fairmont, the Canadian skateboard kid turned DJ is the latest artist to add his name to the EDWIN line-up.

His live sets have evolved over the years and now consist of an ever-expanding live arsenal of three analogue synthesizers, two drum machines, his trusty sampler and a slew of other toys (Note: No Laptop!) resulting in a simultaneous stage show and killer dance-floor set.

A tasty selection from my teenage vinyl electronic pop 12" collection, no real mixing, just for funz. Played this as a DJ set at the Kompakt Pop Up Store in Barcelona this summer and decided to make a recording.

Marcus Marr remains a pivotal figure in the wider realm of dance music having become a firmly established figure associated with the likes of DFA and beyond. His sound sees him blend intriguing elements of post punk, indie and rock alongside house, techno and electronic influences. He has worked prominently as a disc jockey for many years and has travelled the world as a result having made regular appearances at the likes of Panorama Bar, Razzmatazz and Good Room in New York. He has also collaborated with the likes of Chet Faker and has established a succesful presence within both the underground and current dance industry. 

He has just collaborated with a number of disc jockeys on a new remix EP of his work "Familiar Five" with the likes of Prosumer, Justin Van Der Volgen, Gerd Janson and Ara Koufax all featuring.

Up next is a producer and disc jockey who has been on the radar for quite some time, a familiar face who has released a sprawling array of music on some of our favourite labels across the last ten years. His music has appeared on the likes of Gomma, Höga Nord Rekords, Les Disques De La Mort and his own La Belle label, of which he is a founding member. 

We are talking about Golden Bug, a producer who has worked tirelessly and released an innovative collection of music which draws influence from krautrock, house, techno, electronica and new wave. His style is varied and unique, channelling a punk esque aesthetic in a powerful, forward thinking manner. This is also prevalent when he dj's, as you are about to find out. Not one to stand still or play to the confines of genre - his sets are far reaching and eclectic.

I made this series to get us all through Mercury Retrograde. The entire mix has been tuned to 432hz to bring the music into a natural vibration and assist in easing any frustrations you may currently be having. I know that right now there is a lot going on in the world and I wanted to make this one special in order to share the sounds that have helped me recenter myself as of late. I also extended the mix to 3 hours - hope you enjoy :)

While all of us are living the quarantine life, Good Room has asked friends and residents to share mixes for our Solitude Series so you can dance on your own. The 30th mix comes from Thomaas Banks. Thomaas Banks is the latest artistic incarnation of UK born, LA based, DJ and electronic music producer Thomas Coveney, previously known for his lush production work as one half of Psychemagik. Thomaas Banks specialises in a darker side of Techno, Industrial & Electronica, inspired by classic EBM and horror soundtracks.
