Sinchi & Friends 71 is a special one with Italians Fabrizio @Mammarella and @Franz-Scala going b2b and interviewing each other for this feature. The duo who together run acclaimed @Slow-Motion-Records, which also incorporates sub-label Wrong Era Founded in 2009 and now based between Italy and Berlin, Slow Motion Records is a purveyor of the best Italian producers from London to Shanghai and New York to Milan. The label elevates the Italian dance music at all latitudes, whilst remaining true to the heritage and feels of the vibe that has filled dance floors for the last 30 years. This style has attracted producers around the world who have inherited the movement and made it their own.

Residentes Balearicos is a project founded by Luca Averna and Ale Doretto, both resident DJs in Ibiza and both hailing from Venice, Italy.

Together, they make music that tries to capture the amorphous energy of Ibiza, sizzling on sunny beaches, lulling through lounge conversations, and reaching palpable states in throbbing club nights before disseminating into the countryside air for replenishment.  

The project is based on a collaborative idea where Luca and Ale invite other artists from the island into the studio with the aim of sparking up new and fresh ideas for how Balearic music can sound, both within chillout and dancefloor disciplines.  

For Eivissenc, they were joined by DJ and producer Chris Coco. The music here is inscribed with the genesis of Residentes Balearicos: Luca’s flash of inspiration listening to old vinyl at the San Jordi Market and Ale and Chris’ sculpting of that idea into three radiant, highly danceable tracks.

Birds is the pseudonym of East London based DJ, producer and Netil Radio resident, Katie Wilkinson. Having previously released on psychedelic Swedish label, Höga Nord, she’s back with her final release of the year, a digital self release, which will also come as a special edition with an A3 screen print of the artwork.  
This release sees her marry shoegaze sensibilities with acid bass lines and post-punk guitars with a warm ambient twist. Side one of two is ‘Pure’ - a progressive reverb heavy guitar lead track sat on a base of FM drums and peppered with and an overdriven 303 riff. The lyrics “purified living, nowhere to hide” are repeated throughout, and become increasingly ominous as the track intensifies. The lyrics themselves are a clear reference to the COVID-19 lockdown and it’s affect on the mental health of those that lived through it.

PREMIERE #1310 | Birds - Pure [Bandcamp Exclusive] 2020

British label Inside Out Records presents "Irina Remixed", a vinyl release based on skilled Greek producer Metaman's original album "Irina", with the eponymous track featuring the mesmerizing vocals of the mythical singer Lena Platonos. This time, a team of locked, bored, and inspired artists were summoned to provide their own interpretations of the original release: Echonomist, Stevie R & Parisinos, Breakin Moves, and Computer Underground spared no efforts to deliver powerful and stunning versions. The digital format will be accompanied by many other remixes already in the pipeline.

The track we chose to review introduced us to the interesting work of Athens-based producer Breakin Moves. For his experimental interpretation of “Battle of Perugia” (named after a conflict also known as “Perusine War” that was fought in the winter of 41 BC and 40 BC, according to our secret sources), he flirted with repetition and minimalism, and the result is an enthralling and sober theme devoted to inducing stupor. If his goal was to put us in a comfortably numb state, the mission was successfully accomplished.
