Vertical Slump are Simon Marsham (guitars, vocals), Andrew Milk (drums, vocals), Ed Shellard (bass,vocals) and Peter Simpson (synthesizers), a quartet of time-served hands at the DIY foundry who are/were also involved in (amongst others) the bands Shopping, Gloss Rejection, Omi Palone and Circuit Breaker.

This collection of songs was recorded in February of this year at Sound Savers studios with Mark Jasper, and follows on neatly from where a cassette E.P of early demos left us, released earlier in 2015 through Mïlk Records.

In collaboration with Mark, they have produced a fully formed and insistent record, oozing with confidence and vigour. It is four tracks of galloping, compelling post-punk wherein vocals are gulped with ardent

intensity; guitars jag and agitate across the mix, veering from the sweetly melodious to the darkly dissonant, while basslines rumble and lope hand-in-glove with sparse and sympathetic percussion. Keys change, amps squawk, and tense locked-in cadences give way to silvery, sweet-spot choruses.

Mastered with an added slice of punk grit by the evergreen Daniel Husayn at North London Bomb Factory, these recordings can be seen as both a pulsating introduction to a band, and a persuading proposition of what’s to come in the future.

Icecapades (Slowcoaches, Sex Hands, Joey Fourr etc..) are pleased to announce the upcoming release of the self titled debut LP from Manchester-based band Sprinters on May 5th, on vinyl & digital platforms.

Sprinters is the brain-child of Manchester based songwriter Neil Jarvis. Originally hailing from Wigan, Jarvis has been releasing music under his own name since 2012 and is a regular fixture on the Manchester music scene. After years spent playing solo, he slowly started to recruit a backing band for live shows before settling with a permanent band and forming Sprinters in late 2015. These are Jarvis himself, Jon Hodson (bass), Mark Stevenson (drums) and Jason Hughes (guitar). Over the past two years, Sprinters have forged a reputation as one of the most thrilling live acts in the city, and have played support slots for high profile acts such as The Monochrome Set, Chastity Belt, Holy Wave and La Luz, as well as shows all over the UK under their own steam. In 2015 they released their debut single on Blak Hand Records which received critical acclaim from the likes of The Skinny, who described the single as possessing 'the sort of hazy, warm pared down cookery of Real Estate'.

'Sprinters' is the band's first studio effort, and was recorded (mostly) live in Wigan throughout 2016 with friend of the band, local engineer Ste Jones. Comprised of a selection of songs from Jarvis's solo albums and new material, the record proved to be a labour of love, taking just under 12 months to piece together. Sprinters have emerged triumphant with a pure departure record, heavy on hooks, melodic and lyrical interplay, and a more clear and honed sound than their previous lo-fi recordings. Jarvis cites some of his major influences for the process as: The Replacements, Pavement, Neil Young, Ariel Pink and The Velvet Underground.

North West’ is the sophomore effort from FEEL RIGHT, fourteen high tempo, lo-fi pop songs made by two twenty some-things with a flair for infectious, sticky, ear worming hooks,and an innate handle on melody.

Both born on 19th May 1983 at different hospitals in the North West of England, Joe Logan and Nick Ainsworth are, in other lives, involved in some of the most vibrant bands to have tripped out of Manchester over the last few years (Waiters, Former Bullies, Sex Hands). With this, their second album, they’ve conspired to create a record which radiates lightness, levity and competence. It’s the sound of two ultra-talented friends teasing the best from one another and doing what seemingly comes so easily to them.

Nick says of the writing process for the record:

“Joe plays a guitar part from his library-like brain, I sing some words that have been playing heavy on my mind and play the drums too. It’s all been very quick and spontaneous. I think the songs sound really different to anything else I’ve played before.”

Comprised entirely of first takes, and recorded in two felled swoops at the bands practice space in the City Centre, ‘North West’ clocks in at a shade under twenty five minutes.


The album will be released digitally via the labels bandcamp, as well as enjoying an extremely limited first run of 100 vinyl copies. Each coming with a hand-assembled, risographed cover design from Manchester Artist Lucy Jones.

Manchester band Dinner Party have announced that their first album in three years, Too Live To Die, is set for release on December 8th on Manchester's Icecapades Records (Slowcoaches, Joey Fourr, Sprinters, Sex Hands..)

Dinner Party are a band, nay a supergroup, comprising the evergreen talents of Edwin Stevens (Irma Vep, Sex Hands, Klaus Kinski, The Birth Marks etc..), Nick Ainsworth (Former Bullies, Secret Admirer, Feel Right) and Tom Settle (Tom Settle and Friends, Former Bullies) - three local heavyweights who are the brains and brawn behind some of Manchester's most exciting breakout bands of recent years

Having all spent the best part of a decade honing their fuzz drenched craft at sweaty basement shows, the trio have clawed their way out of the Manchester bubble with an LP that packs deep sonic and melodic punches. Recorded straight to tape, Too Live To Die is eighteen tracks of fist pumping garage jams, soulful doo-wop-drenched laments, and the kind of glacial guitar improvisations that would have fit in perfectly on Ry Cooder's Paris Texas soundtrack. It's an assured album armed to the hilt with future neo-psych & garage hits, and one which sweeps you along under the steam of it's momentum and vibrancy. All this is artfully exemplified by the first track to be taken from the LP, Kiss Won't Work. Tune in and let a stream of inventive virtuoso performances and heavy cascading melodies wash over.

Dinner Party - A Kiss Wont Work

Manchester band Cult Party have announced their first album in two years, And Then There Was This Sound, set for release on June 9th on Manchester's Icecapades Records (Slowcoaches, Joey Fourr, Sprinters, Sex Hands...)
Beginning life as the as the bedroom project of multi-disciplinary artist Leo Robinson, a specialist in the kind of hushed, evocative recordings which bring to mind the intimacy of well loved acts like The Microphones & Thanksgiving. Cult Party have quickly blossomed into one of the most respected bands working out of Manchester at the moment.

Recorded last year with a close knit group of friends, including Moshi Moshi records signee Kiran Leonard, 'And Then There Was this Sound' follows on from Leo's last full length effort, the long sold out, 'Eternal Love & The Death of Everything'. This most recent album was composed and recorded at the same time as Leo, who also works as a visual artist, was busy readying artwork for his debut solo show at the Tiwani Gallery, which is due to open in central London later this year.

With his creativity at a peak, and ideas humming around his head, Leo and his band have produced a rich follow-up album with it's eyes very much to the sky. Brimming with energy, inventiveness and positivity, It is a master-class in taut song writing and economical arrangement.

Buoyed by the assistance of some of the best musicians in Manchester, Leo's guitar playing delivers a transcendental, meditative quality, adding weight to a suite of beautifully arranged and generously orchestrated songs. Alongside a minimal set-up of guitar,vocals, organ, cello, violin and percussion, Leo's baritone croon intones a sequence of emotionally expressive lyrics, veering from free-associative poetry to intimate confessionals. All of this adds up to a wonderfully warm and amiable record, which invites you into the world of its creator.

Of the writing process behind the LP, Leo says:

"I started writing (LP highlight and twenty minute epic) Hurricane Girl as a teenager, about 7 years ago now. It was only about 2 minutes long then and I think that version ended up on a cassette i made that almost no one bought with a weird skeleton on the cover. From there it kind of grew into this thing. I kept coming back to this fluid narrative about the weather spirits, and the weather as a consequence of sentient action as opposed to just random occurrence. I pieced together ideas from all over the place - a melody borrowed from my friend Patrick's song, a lyric inspired by Mississippi John Hurt, some bits from various choral music and Hindu chanting practices. The version on the record is exactly 20 minutes long but I'm not sure it will ever be completely finished."

Drowned In Sound: Anyone that’s a fan of (Manchester based) ramshackle noiseniks Klaus Kinski may be aware of Edwin Stevens. Irma Vep is the side project of the Welsh-born musician and is a deranged, drawn out drone of a record, punctuated with lacerated glottal stops. Stevens hangs conventional blues on a rack and pulls at the levers to leave it writhing and groaning, involuntarily splintering out fuzz and distortion… An uncomfortably thrilling listen.

Icecapades are thrilled to announce the impending physical release of Stoned Out Two: Morning of The Way To Love, the second full-length album from Lou Breed - a.k.a. U.S. multidisciplinary artist Jeremy Daly.

Stoned Out Two neatly takes off from where the 2010 debut Stoned Out: Miami Beach left us. That time around Jeremy was feverishly writing and recording whilst in his final months of study at University of Michigan, school of art and design, resulting in a wonderfully intimate and glitchy pop record inspired by the likes of Beck, Panda Bear, Captain Beefheart, Haruomi Hosono & Tadanori Yokoo, Freddie Mckay, and Pregnant.

Now two years down the line, we find East Coast native Daly making the jump to the warmer local of Los Angeles. This sophomore collection of songs shows an evident liberation thanks to the transition in temperature (hinted at by the Hockney-esque pool scene artwork), as well as the newly-afforded freedom to develop musically within the sprawling isolation of L.A.

From the redemptive gospel tones of 'Countertop', to the undeniable afro-beat samples that make up standout, 'Fellow American', Stoned Out Two.. is a potent and persuasive compendium of re-structured grooves and samples, found sounds, and home recordings, ably embellished with Daly's succinct melodic flourishes, and innovational, genre-hopping production.

The album is restricted to an extremely limited first run of 100 cassette copies. Each copy comes with hand assembled album covers, designed by U.K. based illustrator, Jiro Bevis
