It’s far from groundbreaking, yet it’s abundant grooves keep the piece moving, flowing. He takes the water concept seriously, with dripping synths and muted bass, sometimes coming off like the underwater level in Donkey Kong Country. There’s an element of Kid Cudi’s depressive swagger, mixed in with a healthy dose of New Age smoothness (think Enya after a few blunts). Like Water Vol. I is music for the runway, the solo session and the office all in one; with Fleaux’s eagerness and flair keeping it together.
