On Sunday, January 21st, I recorded this, the next iteration of my Progressive House demo series, which I do every once in a while, when I feel like mixing but I don’t have any good shows coming up that match the music, yet meanwhile the flow of incoming tracks is just too great to ignore.. So, Viola!! Demo Set time haha.. Since I got tired of trying to think of clever new names for each demo set, I’ve just been calling them the month they were recorded in, followed by “Prog”, like “October Prog” late last year. But moving forward, I am going to call them a very generic “Prog Sessions”, because that’s what they are, even though everyone else also uses that same boring naming convention already haha. So, welcome to the January edition of Prog Sessions, the first of the New Year. And truth be known, I’ve been working on this one for an embarrassingly long time, and have actually recorded it several times before last Sunday, but they were never quite the right mix of tracks. I always have a rule for these things, and that is, would I want to listen to it multiple times myself. If the answer is yes, then I have a keeper (usually).. But if the answer is no, I keep on working on it. I figure that I need to make these things for myself first, make something that I love deeply, and hopefully if I get it right, other people might get some joy out of it too. So, with this one, I really now like the blend of Progressive House and Progressive Trance, some more deep and moody, and some more funky and Housey, with the common denominator of emotional and melodic undercurrent throughout. I almost think this one has a theme of “Love Sickness”, with the happy epiphanies of joy, followed by the moments of sadness or depression of longing for someone that maybe doesn’t notice you or like you back in the same way, but I’ll let you be the judge haha. MOXY MUZIK is constantly striving to get behind upcoming talent, as well as releasing music from established artists."
