Original sleeve designed for Beating Drum by Olivier Carrie using Colorplan White Frost paper. The packaging and design was inspired by a Factory Records release in the early 80's. The whole package will be sent out in customized Kraft envelope with an original Beating Drum printed seal. The EP also comes with an original short story written by Jenny Lysander.

I drew up a list of musical friends and heroes and asked each one to submit a cover song chosen by someone else on that list. I love hearing good covers, it is such an interesting process seeing how people approach performing and recording someone else's material. I also wanted be part of bringing together the musical community that surrounds and inspires me through running We Come Alive shows in London.

Initially around 20 songwriters and bands agreed to participate. As I write this, 15 tracks have been recorded and I absolutely love them! The collection is an incredibly enjoyable, surprising, varied set of songs and I would like to begin sharing them in instalments as they are worthy of taking time to savour. More tracks are due to appear soon, including recordings by Willy Mason, David Thomas Broughton and This is The Kit.

ICHI, from Nagoya in Japan takes the notion of a one-man band to new limits, combining his handmade instrument inventions with steel-drum, ping-pong balls, tape-loops, xylophone, double bass and trumpet, all in the space of one short set. Somehow there's an ancient, ritualistic feel to his performances. He's like the misplaced leader of a tribe and perhaps he will be - it's this kind of energy and innovation which inspires a cult following. To see ICHI live is to witness something so playful and unusual you get the feeling that you're experiencing something entirely new. It`s fun, it`s danceable, it`s exciting. His 2nd album Memo, recorded onto analogue 4-track tape recorder and released in Japan, combines the raucous energy of street music in west Africa, the pastoral reflectiveness of goat-herders, and the humour of monty python, and is driven with energy, quirkiness, and his playful manipulation of the mundane.
