After launching late last year with an EP from Australian golden boy Mall Grab, @ShallNotFade has powered into prominence through a highly productive 2016.

Contours' (@tom-burford) contribution to the label, a four-track EP titled ‘Loose Wood’, marks another fine instalment to its impressive discography, featuring a Ross From Friends remix to round off the tracklist.  

‘Loose Wood (Ross From Friends remix)’ stretches out the complex percussive rhythms of the original and raises it to a higher realm of bliss with tranquil chimes and doses of reverb.

Church label boss Seb Wildblood lends his talents to Omena Records for a mini LP with a cheeky title of ‘:~^’, featuring the soothing house sound of ‘Wet Summer’.

With grainy atmospherics, Wildblood lays the foundation for a steady house rhythm and melodic riffs highlighted by whimsical tones and subtle vocals. He’s been known to produce a variety of styles and ‘Wet Summer’ seems to broaden his output. 

Mixmag reached out to Wildblood who described the process of producing the mini LP: “This is a collection of tracks I've been working on over the last year or so, most of the music I produce and also release on the labels has a nostalgic feel to it, this record is no different. Hopefully there's something for every occasion, the club, cooking dinner, walking the dog... that's the hope anyway.”

Seb Wildblood’s ‘:~^’ LP is set for release in the coming months via Omena Records.

The tall build overlooked the city with an overbearing sense of presence. The people who walked upon the streets beneath the towering beast were undermined and overwhelmed by its existence. It cast a shadow into the core of their homes and their lives. Within the confines of the luxury suites and the sprawling penthouses the rich would dine and play, happy in the carefree sense of disregard which was afforded to them by the four walls. Out there on the streets it was tough, a stark contrast to another life. 

Shelter On Wax is set to release a new EP called "Oranienstrasse" on Lagaffe Tales. The Berlin based producer offers great promise and we were also startlingly impressed by the Gnork remix which is lush, elegant house music at its finest.

"For it’s 3rd release Dublin label 393 Recordings looks to both home and abroad for it’s latest double-header. Across 4 tracks Carlow’s Tr One and Marseille’s Life Recorder play out their own idiosyncratic takes on deep techno.


Take a journey into inner space with Irish producer Tr One (Don’t Be Afraid / Lunar Disko / Apartment Records) on the opening “1.2.9”, where the Irish producer delivers a typically deep, mood-enhancing trip through his machines. Terse percussion and handclaps off-set a driving, funk-induced bass-line, all of which is enveloped by distant, yet warm pads, bringing the listener in various directions at the one time. “Dedication” maintains the opener’s sense of eerie intensity, this time with a lighter melodic touch returning the music, and the listener, back out into the open air.


With a back catalogue that includes releases on such lauded labels as Aesthetic Audio and Hizou Deep Rooted Music, Marseille’s Life Recorder reimagines classic techno sounds in his own inimitable fashion. Atmospheric cuts focused on the deeper realms of the dance floor.

Delivered with a deft lightness of touch, “Impulse” is carried through with interlocking riffs that bounce off crisp drum programming before “State of Mind” delivers the record’s most intense moments where we delve back into techno’s inner space again. Layered with a variety of murky, hypnotic and tripped-out machinations, 393x003 closes off with a suitably unshakeable sense of foreboding funk.

Following previous releases on Shall Not Fade and KOMPAKT, Soela will release her debut on Australia-via-Berlin imprint Nerang Recordings with the ‘Downfall’ EP.
The EP showcases the studio and creative mastery of the Russia-born and Berlin-based artist, who has years of experience as a pianist and vocalist under her belt.
Spanning five tracks, Downfall EP sees Soela team up with Berlin-based DJ and producer Module One, and Nerang head honcho Whipr Snipr. The release also features a remix from Ukrainian artist, Saturated Color.
The title track is deep house at its finest, showcasing otherworldly atmospheres, serene chords and Soela’s blissful piano, which has been a staple throughout her productions. Up next, ‘Cabinet’ featuring Module One features echoing, magical synths and thumping percussion working in perfect harmony. 
On the flip side, ‘Golden Hour’ is the quintessential afterhours track that would be at home at daytime raves and summer festivals alike. 
The Saturated Colour remix gives the title track a darker twist, adding an acid house synthline that’s in perfect synch with the track’s dreamy atmospheres and enchanting beats.
Wrapping things up, ‘Hide From Love’ sees Soela team up with Whipr Snipr to deliver a piano meets acid house tune that beckons us to get down on the dancefloor and dance with our eyes closed.

Nerang Recordings will release the ‘Downfall EP’ both on vinyl and digitally on February 21, 2020.

Newly established label, production duo and radio hosts Rain World have compiled together a ‘pay what you want’ 100% donation based VA raising money towards the amazing Youth Music Foundation charity. The album features tracks from all friends and family - spanning from drone, ambient, chug, post punk, new wave, jungle and all things in between.

What the Youth Music Foundation do:

“Each year more than 350 Youth Music projects are happening across England. That’s around 83,000 children and young people regularly making music. We invest in music- making projects where they’re really needed. Bringing opportunities for children to learn a new musical genre in a town where not much happens. Supporting a ground-breaking initiative in a deprived part of a city. Responding to difficult challenges like young people at risk of radicalisation.
Communities divided by prejudice or gangs can be brought together to perform. Writing lyrics can enable a bereaved teenager to express their grief. 

Making hip-hop beats can help a kid understand maths in a way they never grasped at school. Being young can be hard. And we know that troubles don’t end the moment you hit 18. That’s why we work with children and young people from the moment they’re born right up until the age of 25.”
