oooofff! this is my favourite mix of yours yet

After playing bass guitar ICKX (Jan Ickx, born 1979) started his career as a DJ in 1995. After briefly spinning ‹Goa› music, he became part of the local hiphop scene. Going by the name ‹deckstar89› Jan played at various Hip Hop jams and clubs and later became part of the well known turntable crew ‹AFDC› (Alles für die Cutz), gaining reputation far beyond city limits.

Always intrigued by the original versions behind his rap records’ samples, Jan started relentlessly digging original funk & soul 45 records and subsequently formed the ‹Funkexpress› collective with Ronnie Evangelista with whom he became a resident at Wuppertal’s legendary ‹45rpm› club and played at venues all over Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Having moved to Berlin in 2012, after digging and playing funk & soul for the past 15 years, Jan took interest in electronic music starting to DJ under the name ICKX. From 2019 on he also focused on making his own music, digging deep into synthesis and production.

In 2020 ICKX celebrated his 25th DJ anniversary. Currently he is part of CHOOSE collective, organizing solidarity parties at Berlin’s Mensch Meier club and can be found on modular synth jams.

This was a lot of fun! Edited out a technical issue with the mixer - that's a risk when using discontinued gear. Unfortunately a bit distorted as well.

Pachelle is a Toronto-based DJ—and newcomer to the D&B community—who has been lighting up dancefloors since early 2022 with her deep, groovy and sparkly sound.

After spending the COVID-19 lockdowns learning the fundamentals of mixing and showcasing her skills on Twitch, Pachelle emerged in March 2022 as a winner of The Comfort Zone’s DJ mix contest—and subsequently cut her teeth with regular bookings at Comfort Zone and Vertigo.

Pachelle credits her friendships with other DJs on Twitch for her foray into D&B and Jungle—which she often describes as the “steak and caviar of dance music”. Since shifting her focus to all things 160+ BPM, she has shared the stage with many of the city’s most respected D&B acts and performed on supporting lineups for several international headliners, including Rusko, Critical Impact, Shabba D, and Harry Shotta. 

Her 2023 highlights include a guest mix featured on CIUT 89.5 FM’s The ProphecyNorth America’s longest-running D&B radio show—and a guest livestream on Twitch for TorontoJungle.

Pachelle continues to dabble in a diverse palette of dance music genres,
including House, Breaks, and Garage. Keenly aware that she has much to learn, she is excited to start learning to produce records of her own.
