this is dedicated to the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō, a honeyeater indigenous to Hawai'i. it went extinct due to mosquitoes and hurricanes destroying its native forests. the last Kauaʻi ʻōʻō was recorded on video in 1987, singing a mating call to a mate that would never come. i wanted to try singing back.

wrote a weird theme song for my shifter bard in D&D! she plays an "Aluquaina", which is my (made-up) handheld version of a glass harmonica (real). it's...pretty eerie and off-putting, but hey, she's not a very successful bard!
