Having already geared up for the release of their long-awaited third studio album later this year, electronic outfit Ishi have now returned to unveil the new Yuksek remix for their latest captivating single ‘Not My Girl’.

Continuing the smooth and groove-filled aesthetic they are known for, Yuksek now adds his own distinct direction to this bold and vibrant cut. Keeping the fresh and soulful sound of the original and reworking it with a light yet uplifting texture gives this new offering an exciting new feel that only these two could have pulled off. Having been performing independently for over eight years, Summer Heart signed to the renowned Swedish label Icons Creating Evil Art right before the pandemic hit in 2020. With an already impressive roster under their belts, the imprint is set to become a welcome home to the frontman’s breezy and lovable direction. Following on from the release of his highly-praised EP ‘Ambitions’ at the end of 2020 and his subsequent follow-up EP 'Insecurities' in the fall of 2021, Swedish alt-pop troubadour Summer Heart now has his aim for a full length album this summer; brining together some of the best pieces of music he's released on ICEA so far with some brand new cuts. But before that there are some other gems that need to see the light of day. He started the year with a collab where Summer Heart had remixed fellow label mate artist Glamour Hammer, and he's now releasing a remix from fellow swede Oliver Nelson of his single 'Good Together'. Oliver adds his laid back cocktail disco vibe to create a perfect summer breeze when we need it the most.

Discussing the track, Summer Heart says: "This song is about when you meet a new person that you really like, it feels as if you fit perfectly together and you have like an "us against the world" vibe, but then in the end nothing really comes out of it. Then you might look back and wonder what it would have been like if the two of you had ended up together.”

Producer Oliver Nelson may be from Sweden and has released music and remixes on various power houses in the EDM world, but he’s far from the kind of bottle-servicey house music mafioso that those things might imply. He’s got a taste for vintage disco and a subtle sensibility that have helped him rework tracks by Tove Lo, Justin Timberlake, Marina and the Diamonds and even Whitney Houston into rubbery electronic funk that avoid the full-blast sensory overload that a lot of pop-oriented dance music falls into. He has also collaborated with the likes of Kygo, Todd Terry, Zayn, The Kooks and many more, delivering a wildly eclectic array of offerings throughout his career.

Darkplace släpper de sista bitarna av sin episka berättelse om världens undergång med det nya albumet "About The End Of The World"

Darkplace är ett anonymt konstprojekt som intog musikscenen med imponerande närvaro och unikt berättarskap tidigare detta år. Musiken är rotad i postpunk men inspireras av en mängd andra genrer i sin komposition, där bland annat Experimentell Rock, Alt-Pop och Shoegaze är framträdande. Debutalbumet 'About the End of the World' är en monumental release som inte bara talar genom ljudmediet, utan också genom vackra och dystra digitala målningar och animationer. Konceptet bakom albumet utspelar sig i en mörk framtid eller kanske en alternativ nutid, där världen skildras i bilder inspirerade av verkliga platser, ofta centrerat kring det karga betonglandskapet i Stockholms Västerort, i en skrämmande  fantasifull tolkning.

Debutsingeln 'Arken över Hesselby' (video) skildrar en kuslig version av Stockholmsförorten "Hässelby". Videon visar oss en välbekant stadsbild, hemsökt av en okänd ark som iakttar från ovan. Dess efterträdare 'Fearmonger' (video) eller 'Skräckmakaren' tog oss till en annan del av samma universum, där vi vittnar om en ensam soldats öde när han står öga mot öga med den skrämmande luftfarkosten. I den tredje singeln 'Cars' (video) fokuserar historien på en man som följer kryptiska meddelanden på motorvägsskyltar norrut, och i den senaste singeln 'This Is Loud' (video) är vi tillbaka i Västeort, där lokalbefolkningen  skakas av oförklarliga enorma stenkors.

"Jag kunde inte gå ut längre, jag kände mig inte säker. Allt hängde ihop, jag vet inte hur men vi visste alla att det var en del av något större. I hemliga forum diskuterade vi. Vi visste vad det innebar, världen höll på att gå under. Är det möjligt att överleva detta? Kommer vi alla att bli galna? Ingenstans är säkert."

Låtarna på 'About the End of the World' skrevs alla med en specifik dramaturgi i åtanke. De filmiska musikvideorna beter sig närmast som kortfilmer, med egna berättelser från olika delar av det dystopiska universum som Darkplace skapat. Konstnären själv ger oss en spännande inblick i den kreativa processen: "Den första idén till en animation var Arken Över Hesselby. Jag började skapa konsten innan jag hade musiken, så stycket är skrivet som ett soundtrack till animationen."

Skapandeprocessen har flera lager som innefattar fotografi, skulptering, oljemålning, digital redigering och animering. Darkplace förklarar: "För strukturer som ‘Arken över Hesselby’ används Nomad Sculpt för att sätta formen, sedan exporteras motiven i specifika vinklar för varje scen och importeras till Procreate för att målas där. jag använder mig av oljepenslar och målar över fotot och skapar på så sätt en lager på lager-process. Det blir lätt rörigt och exporten blir ännu stökigare eftersom jag vill ha djup i scenerna och exporterar dem i olika lagerdjup. Några scener i det här projektet har också animerats bild för bild. Projekt har tagit nästan 2 år hittills, så jag försöker hålla det  rent och enkelt när det går."

Men sitt ambitiösa världs-skapande och berättande kommer det knappast som en överraskning att Darkplace har ett större fokus än enbart sin musik. Projektet vill utforska och kritisera tillståndet i världen genom ljud och bild och kommer säkerligen att vända huvuden med sitt innovativa tillvägagångssätt att skapa konst och diskussion.

Brittish Jungle/D'n'B producer Toby Ross steps in where the collaboration between Burro Banton and Swedish producer duo PAPA Sound left off. The song Good In Di Street has had a few alternative versions, see the light off day. This time it takes a Bristol style kinda turn, when the rising DnB prodigy Toby Ross cooks it up his way! The producer from Bristol, who recently released his EP "Beyond" on Liondub International, has recently been ranked as number one on the Juno Downloads DnB charts.

Burro Banton (born Donovan Spalding; 27 December 1956 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a dancehall reggae deejay popular in the mid-1980s and 1990s. He is most famous for his anthem "Boom Wah Dis", which was recorded on the Steely & Clevie riddim called "Street Sweeper". Burro emerged during the mid-1980s at the beginning of the digital dancehall craze started by King Jammy that also featured artists like Cutty Ranks. He is known for his very aggressive style; deep, gruff voice; and was the inspiration for many modern dancehall artists like Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, and Elephant Man.

PAPA Sound is a Swedish producer duo focused on creating bass driven, dancehall, afrobeat, and reggae tunes. Founded by Patrik Arve and Paolo Albo, Papa Sound became a duo in the year 2020. The name PAPA comes from their given names initials Paolo Albo and Patrik Arve.  In their songs, they vent the issues and passions they have in common, from social injustice or environmental issues to just their love for music

“Usually we are looking for the spark in the gap between different genres. For us, 90% of good music is all about the attitude. It's more important than your actual "skill". Hence our love for punk, hip-hop and reggae. We are baking outernational musical biscuits full of bass and riddim. Swedish rockband Reach added for rotation on one of Germany's biggest radio stations, now they're back with their next single!

Supporting H.E.A.T. during their extensive European tour last summer, REACH played their latest full length album 'The Promise of a Life' live for the first time in front of an ecstatic crowd. Now the band is back with a new and greatly anticipated album in 'Prophecy', full of exciting stories and an untamed rock n' roll attitude, set for release in March next year.

The new campaign got off to a flying start with "heavy rotation" (4 plays/week) for the album's first single "Mama Mama" on Radio Bob, one of Germany's 10 biggest radio stations. The commercial rock radio broadcasts in the German federal states of Hesse, NRW and Schleswig Holstein, reaching over 500k listeners per hour and up to 3 million listeners per day.

Now the band releases the albums second single "Little Dreams", which constitutes a true rock anthem with its melodic chorus and powerful delivery. In true Reach spirit, as the band is known to incorporate a dramatic flare into their tracks, a dark story hides behind the heavy riffs of the new song. Frontman and songwriter Ludvig Turners tells us: “Those of you who´ve listened to Reach before know that we often have a dark theme surrounding the lyrics and the stories within our songs. This song is about a man who knows he's about to die and that falling asleep will ensure this. He struggles to stay awake. He even tries to deal with The Sandman, but fails in the end. There is rarely a happy ending to a Reach song.”

Art-Pop artist Bonander is back with a powerful and intimate EP, unpicking traumas connected to body and self-image
 

Enigmatic and alluring, Bonander released her visionary debut album, 'Things We Don’t Talk About' through Icons Creating Evil Art on 20th August 2021. The full-length was praised by media giants such as Rolling Stone, It's All indie, High Snobiety and GAFFA.  Now she is back with a new EP called "the thread", unpicking traumas revolving body and self-image. Leaning heavily on its acoustic element, the exquisite arrestments gives the EP's theme an even more naked and exposed edge.
 

Bonander is the shorthand for Ellinor Sterner Bonander. Sporting the role of musician, arranger and producer, the native Swede is a woman unchained. Boldly charging head first into her own fears in regards to the projects subsect, Bonander got to examine her own body image in a detailed and unforgiving way. It all began at a music residency where the artist spent a lot of time by herself a couple of years ago. She says: "'the thread' has been something of a therapeutic journey for me. I tried to challenge myself by writing on the topic of the body, precisely because it was initially experienced as something difficult and scary. I understood quite quickly that there were things to face and sort out there. I got the desire to, via music, lyric and image, put the spotlight on the self contempt for our bodies I and many others have, with the hope that it might lead to something else entirely."
 

But the EP doesn't focus solemnly on the negative thoughts we tend to have about the body. New single 'the void' is one of the songs that approach the subject more kindly, although still very intimate. Bonander tells us: "One of the more naked and warm thoughts about the body I encountered during this trip is the song the void, which deals with the desire of the body. To be attracted to someone, to long, to listen to the will of the body, disconnected from the rational, from norm and from prejudice. I think this feeling is easily suffocated under a lot of silly notions, and body anxiety is one of them for me. The void is my way of breaking free and admitting what I long for. The title reflects the endless sea of ​​desire and longing my body and the bodies of others carry with it. It looks different for everyone - but it's there."
 

Known for her cinematic soundscapes filled of dense bass lines, playful synth melodies and orchestral elements, Bonander sought to scale down the bombastic arrangements and let the music be more bare and intimate then her earlier work. “musically I wanted to go in a different direction. The challenge was to be as stripped down in the production as I dared, in the same way as the vulnerability in the lyrics I wrote.” she tell us. To further capture the essence and emotion of the music, she decided to record the EP live and contacted the pianist, organizer and colleague Sara Hermansson. “The recordings are live takes where we play together without a metronome. I am incredibly grateful for Sara's artistry that’s contributed greatly to this work. She even lent me a piano piece she’s written as the outro of this Ep. As the icing on the cake, I also got to record the fantastic violinist Elias Sjöwall. Together, I hope we convey something fragile, naked and a little beautifully broken to the listener.”
 

“the thread” encourages the listener to join in discourse of uncomfortable topics and challenge the harmful social strukturs that is still very much in place. “We live in such an incredibly exposed society when it comes to appearance.” says Bonander. “As children, we are told that it is the inside that counts, but in every room you are in, it is disproved time and time again. In the workplace, at home, in love life, in the media. Appearance is capital and it's not until we acknowledge it that we can work towards it”.

The night stands for darkness and in "Eternal Night"  that darkness symbolizes uncertainties, anxiety and fear. My character suffers from the symptoms sloth, wrath, envy and greed. "Save Me is about difficult situations in life… times when we are basically BEGGING for someone or something to "SAVE" us. Times when ANY solution sounds good… (any solution is better than nothing...) Usually these kinds of situations 'solve them selves' - we end up literally saving ourselves - but the song is about someone in the midst of that desperation... calling out for that elusive 'saviour.'"

Short bio:
Cole and Shpresa met on SoundCloud; where each had been uploading their music independently, in early 2012. At first, their love was simply for the other's music. That quickly turned into something more, however, and it wasn’t long before the two began a relationship on Skype which lasted more than five months. In June 2012, Shpresa flew to Cole in Minneapolis, from Stockholm, and stayed until the couple returned to Sweden two months later. It was there that Flora Cash was born.

Since that time, Flora Cash has lived, written and played in Stockholm, London and Minneapolis. They've assembled over nineteen-thousand YouTube subscribers and amassed over a million views on their videos. In their own words they describe their music as alternative dream pop that “celebrates intimate landscapes through a melancholic stream that merges with dreamy vocal narratives.” 
Both Claudio and Alfonso are from Positano and grew up playing music together. Aldo on the other hand is from Milan and came to Sweden to study Anthropology of Art. Having moved to Sweden around the same time, and with backgrounds as students they came into contact. Music built up their friendship, and music will build up their careers. 

Claudio, Alfonso, and Aldo moved to Sweden because they needed a new backdrop for their music, a place far enough away from home it would allow fresh approaches and ideas. It didn’t take long for Emmecosta to understand that Gothenburg was the place for them. The northern air has impacted their overall sound, creating a somewhat new alphabet. UNTIED their upcoming debut EP has emerged from this new alphabet. 

Artistic in their own right, they put a lot of emphasis on not only their sound but also the visual process. They draw inspiration from what they refer to “intimate dreams”- where visions of feelings communicate truth and where truth is as loud as hope.

"We wrote and recorded This Breeze during a very transitional time in our lives. We had just gotten back to Sweden after having lived in the U.S. for a year and we were staying with Shpresa's parents for the summer in her home town of Värnamo. For one of us, the feelings were of 'coming home' and the coziness of a long awaited reunion with family and old friends. For the other, the feelings were of 'leaving home behind' and reflecting on the distance that suddenly separates one from the very same kind of people.  This Breeze is a manifestation of our contradictory feelings colliding and ultimately - finding common ground. The song is cozy and warm but it's also bittersweet and melancholic. It represents the sum total of our combined feelings at the time."

Short bio:
Cole and Shpresa met on SoundCloud; where each had been uploading their music independently, in early 2012. At first, their love was simply for the other's music. That quickly turned into something more, however, and it wasn’t long before the two began a relationship on Skype which lasted more than five months. In June 2012, Shpresa flew to Cole in Minneapolis, from Stockholm, and stayed until the couple returned to Sweden two months later. It was there that Flora Cash was born.

Since that time, Flora Cash has lived, written and played in Stockholm, London and Minneapolis. They've assembled over nineteen-thousand YouTube subscribers and amassed over a million views on their videos. Emmecosta had a particularly busy 2015. After breaking through with debut single Brontos which Clash accurately described as ‘post-club’, the trio from Gothenburg have been paving their own soundtrack to that time when it’s too late to go to bed, but too early to get up.
 
Then end of 2015 saw the guys release Snowboy, followed by being asked to open for Chimes and playing a slot at the Rockaway Beach Festival alongside Young Fathers and Ghostpoet. The stage was seemingly set.
 
Emmecosta's new present His Power Of Youth might be going for "Post-club tropical indie soul”. And why shouldn’t they… After all it’s 21st century where the sonic world is their creative oyster. Start with London Bass artists Belgrave and NOVAA, then combine the production of Mount Kimbie and Gold Panda and you’ll see what platform we’re on here. There are elements of James Blake’s usage of sonic space in a relaxed manner, and topped with Josef Salvat’s more acoustic details of the Hustler-esque pulsating backbone of the production. It’s really, really good…

Flora Cash are a Scandi duo that have taken upon themselves to sonically explore the diversity of human relationships. They go straight to places where tears are shed, chairs are thrown, discussions of parting are present, but the music is created regardless. Having “met” on Soundcloud and instantly e-hitting it off musically, their “atmospheric in theme and vibe” material had soon after been supported by the likes of Noisey US, Paste, The Music Ninja, Earmilk, Interview Magazine and more. 

With the release of their upcoming new album, containing the “Sadness Is Taking Over” single, Flora Cash face their most challenging moments to date sewn deep into the music. They instantly share this uneasy and raw kind of anxiety with the listener, the type that affects one’s mind, body and then somehow manages to creep into every aspect of one’s life, soon to be in control of it. Topping the song with the backing vocals, in the style of Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes, Cole and Shpresa are not only conveying their feelings but also examining them with each sung harmony. 

The duo skilfully blend their deep love for acoustic soundscapes and layer it with just the right amount of ethereal production hinting at Mt Wolf, Poliça, Vogue Dots and Kings Of Convenience. Through the painful dialogue between Shpresa’s observations and Cole’s suffering, the duo succeeds at designing an inter-dimensional delicate yet mighty piece of music.  

“Sadness Is Taking Over” creates a sonic desire for tranquillity and emotional freedom which despite the heartbreak, loss or destruction, aids one with the ability of personal growth and moving on.

In the shape of their upcoming new single “Nothing Lasts Forever (And It’s Fine)” the Scandi duo Flora Cash say stop to the worrying pessimism of our generation unable to simply ‘stress less- live more’. The band shares their on-going hope by spreading that powerful message, as described best by Robert Eliot “Rule number one is, don’t sweat the small stuff. Rule number two is, it’s all small stuff”. 
 
“Nothing Lasts Forever (And It’s Fine)” is a good first step towards drawing a tad closer to that mind-set by putting a melodic hint of perspective into our lives and relationships, even if only for 3min 48 seconds.

The subtle guitar in the style of DIIV dressed with Poliça-like arrangements and led by male/female- vocal liaison, the duo adds: “The track is about embracing imperfection and temporality. ‘Purge’ is the new EP from the Scandi female artist with vision called Louise Lemón who provoke dark, mysterious and mystical emotions with her mixture between darker drone and gospel/soul music.

In the style of Lana Del Rey, The Kills and PJ Harvey’s open and airy noir- sound, the production takes the listener on a psychedelic journey throughout. The drumbeat is slow yet assertive, the scuzzy guitars remain ethereal yet powerful, and Louise’s vocals slide across the song with a presence which simply cannot be ignored.
 
Produced by Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Thurston Moore), ‘Egyptian Darkness’ sounds moody, compelling and resembles Randalls’s previous work. Whilst Sunn O))) is clearly a huge influence in the production, the songwriting also draws elements from the Seattle drone mavericks.

The band says “California describes a longing to be free; even when the prospect of achieving that freedom, is itself daunting.” True to word, the track perfectly balances up beat serenity with reality and does exactly what the title “California” suggests. It helps the listener, as well as the band themselves travel closer to the sun, palm trees, fun times and open minds – to choose not to escape with them would be a mistake.

Swedish boutique music label ICEA adopted the Positano natives to polish their dream-pop soundscapes. Listeners were introduced to Emmecosta’s music at the end of 2016 and the dawn of 2017 with the tracks “His Power of Youth” and “Miguel”. The synths, punctuated guitar and silky vocals evoke memories of Phoenix circa 2004. The remaining two tracks, “Heavy Heart” and “A Mountain From Us” blend pulsing waves of synths and echoing vocals, mirroring Snakadaktal’s Sleep in the Water (2013). 

In many ways, Emmecosta communicate intoxicating atmospheres with their dream-pop, reminiscent of Washed Out, where the muffled vocals paint the landscape and guide the listener to melt into nature. The music videos for “Miguel” and “His Power of Youth” were filmed in seaside Positano and Scandinavian forests, complementing the music and the story of the band. Emmecosta says, “There is a hidden romantic darkness in the actual story, which represents the band’s melancholy in relation to their hometown in Italy, and what it was been like to immigrate to Sweden. There is a craving for home, yet acceptance of new belonging.” 

Stereogum and Clash Magazine have both praised the band for their “blissed out electronics with a liquid feel” more accurately than their self-proclaimed “post-club tropical indie soul” - a description that raises eyebrows, but enhances a sense of self-awareness in the calming hours after a party, before bed.  Emmecosta dedicates their music ideas to time and place - living in the moment, while feeling split between their lives in Italy and Sweden. The result is a sound that feels comfortable and contemplative.

This is a specific form of wanderlust – a craving for a distant land or a deep feeling of ‘homesickness’ for a place we have never seen. We imagine distant places through small fragments: everyday life seen elsewhere. We are going through a strange sensation of disorientation, something magical seen from far away. Flora Cash is a Scandi-American duo made up of Shpresa Lleshaj and Cole Randall. The couple has taken it upon them to sonically explore the diversity of human relationships through minor keys and brooding vocals, they double down on their palette of inky blues and blacks, standing wholly apart from their R&B-Pop peers. Having “met” via SoundCloud and instantly e-hitting it off musically, their “atmospheric in theme and vibe” material had soon after been supported by the likes of Noisey US, Paste, Wonderland, The Music Ninja, Earmilk, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, Impose Magazine and more.
 
Following the success of their last album, ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ – most with lead single ‘You’re Somebody Else’, which has had over 6 million plays on Spotify and has also featured in numerous playlists. The track also went viral on YouTube with even more (millions) views, which was the breakthrough moment for the couple. Flora Cash also have a substantial year of live performances ahead of them; they’re set to be playing across the world, from Hanoi to Miami, and also making their debut at SXSW this year.
 
Flora Cash now release their new single ’18 Dollars’ where Randall leads the sincerely sublime R&B ballad with husky, reverberating vocals. Minor-keyed guitar wraps Shpresa’s stony harmonies, as they rest on a spine of solemn brass and bass synths. Lleshaj takes centre-stage during the bridge, and the contrast in vocals is poignant. The duo comes together again in the tragically touching closing chorus.
 
The pair skilfully blend elements of acoustic music with ethereal production, hinting at Mt Wolf, Poliça, Vogue Dots and Kings Of Convenience. The honesty of their lyricism is constantly tinged with dark moments, moments of doubt, of anger, of pain fully present in the sonic backbone of Flora Cash.
 
‘18 Dollars is a song that looks back on aspects of a relationship that has ended. There’s a stubbornness and a cockiness about it but that’s really only superficial. Beneath the surface there’s a deep longing to fix something that’s broken but a lack of insight as to how that might be possible. There is confusion about where things stand and how bad (or good) things really were. Ultimately, the track communicates the deeply felt ambiguity that often surrounds the ending of a romantic relationship.’ – Flora Cash

The Law (Zardonic Remix) – alt-rock band Reach serving adrenaline rush with their new drum’n bass infused single accompanied by arty music video feauturing prima ballerina of the Royal Swedish Opera

Alternative rock band Reach  is defined by strong melodies and imaginative song-writing. Reach are always developing their sound, keen to remain ahead of the curve with songs that are both exciting and unique. The Swedish power trio has always let an experimentally adventurous spirit decide what rooms the band and their art exists in and float between. This curiosity and boldness has now led them to serve a next level adrenaline ruch with their new drum’n bass infused release, accompanied by an arty music video feauturing prima ballerina of the Royal Swedish Opera.

The Law was originally released in 2020, accompanied by a blood-soaked, beautifully nightmare-like music video in bright magenta tones. The energetic and pulsating original single, whose drive made it a given element in training and sports contexts, including as an anthem of the American football scene across Sweden. The new remix has still managed to take the adrenaline and pulse to a whole new level and the accompanying video art is equally spectacular to say the least, feauturing the award winning high profile dancer Oscar Salomonsson, prima ballerina of the Royal Swedish Opera where he’s been employed since 1997 and performing as the prima ballerina for almost a decade.

Behind creating the video is music video virituous and award winning documentary film maker Claudio Marino (Ghost, Priest, Tribulation, MCC, Behemoth). Talking about the music video, Claudio says:
 -  ” I know nothing about ballet so, as soon as I got the idea for this video cleared, I started asking around for dancers. An old friend told me about this guy called Oscar Salomonsson, so I asked for a meeting. After a coffee, he agreed to take part in the video. On my way back to the office I took the subway, and when standing there, I realized it was his face that was plastered all over the station. And not only that, it was for the Royal Opera nonetheless. So when my friend said, "he is one of the best dancers in Sweden", he did not exaggerate.”

The adrenaline-pumping drum'n bass remix of The Law is created by the musical genre outlaw and energy-visionary Zardonic (Bullet for my Valentine, Smash into Pieces). Whilst drum'n bass and metal have evolved along completely different historical trajectories and draw disctinct crowds to unrelated events, they share a stylistic rooting in raw, unadulterated energy and an unbashed tendency to recide on the fringes. Neither are mainstream, both make you want to move and the inherit message is one of creative expression without boundaries or limits. It’s this rejection of boundaries which defines Zardonic and his mission to stir the sonic melting pot and cultivate a sound that resonates with music fans who worship energy above all else is manifested in this new remix.
