In honor of my birthday, I'm honoring the light in each in every one of you with an aural gift, a meaningful soul song by Familiar Trees called 'Words to Say'. #namaste ‪#‎cuspofexposure‬ ‪#‎leovirgocusp‬ ‪#‎quadragenarian‬ ‪#‎love‬

In May of 2014, I had an extraordinary experience, a profound & spontaneous kundalini awakening, a sacred mystical experience, the start of a journey of spiritual emergence, unfolding, growth, transformation & integration. 

Such experiences are difficult to put into words, especially for the INTJ that I am. I knew I wanted to share certain elements of my experience creatively through song, so we decided to reignite the Familiar Trees recording project, as a sort of venue where I could share some personal non-linear thoughts & ideas. 

The last two Familiar Trees songs 'Paladin' & 'There Was A Stranger', as well as this new one 'Words To Say' are all related to the same story #herstory. I asked the brilliant Rodney Sellars who I knew was amazing with words, having worked with him on Icons of Andria, to take bits of my story and reinterpret it into lyrics. He agreed to help me with this & now here is song number 3. I think it's my favorite so far & I'm so happy to share it on my birthday. I really am glad I made it to the other side ... so to speak.

Words To Say

Andria and the boy sat on the edge of the Sky Sailor as it made it's way slowly over the landscape of the ruined world.

The boy looked down at the vast devastation."Do you think technology is a good thing?" He asked.

Andria thought for a moment. "I suppose it depends on what it's used for."
She paused.

"Would you like to see something beautiful?" She asked.

The boy looked at her an smiled. "Yes!"

Andria delicately manipulated the controls on her chest and a small opening appeared in the center. She carefully pulled out a small and beautifully intricate metallic object. It glittered with tiny blue and yellow lights.

The boys eyes widened. "Is this your heart?" The boy asked as he stared deeply into the layers of the complex little machine.

Andria smiled. "Something like that, perhaps my mind or my soul."

The boy was transfixed by it's beauty. "Can I touch it?"

"Yes." Andria said calmly.

The boy reached forward slowly. The Object was warm to the touch and he could feel a smooth tingling in his fingertips. He looked up at her face and said. "I think this technology is very good!"

Andria smiled. "So do I!"

Anchored by sharp guitars, a woozy synth backdrop and airtight vocal harmonies, the new album Midnight Flowers which is produced by Bryce Goggin (Pavement, The Apples In Stereo, Swans, Antony & The Johnsons) came out on May 29, 2012. The band has toured with a variety of artists including the Lumineers, Portugal The Man, the Walkmen, Beady Eye, the Joy Formidable, Ben Kweller, Thrice, and Here We Go Magic.

The Dig's sound has been developing ever since the band's two singers Emile Mosseri and David Baldwin started making music together when they were eleven years old. After meeting California native Erick Eiser, the three songwriters have been writing tunes and playing in different bands together since they were in high school. Mark Demiglio (drums) moved to New York from Texas to join the band following the recording of "Midnight Flowers."

'LAND OF RELICS' BACKSTORY:

Andria turned the pages slowly as she read the story of “The Ancient Troubles”.

The children looked up at her in wonder, her artificial voice had a soothing lilt to it, and her skin was so smooth and silvery. 

They had all come to love the ornate “machine lady” from another age. 

She looked out upon the beautiful city that had once lain in ruins.

She paused, moved by the thought of the dark days her and that boy had lived through.

“What’s wrong Miss Andria?” A boy child asked.

The sound of his voice pulled her out of the vision of that bygone era. 

She turned to see the boy’s face. It was honest and innocent like that of her ancient companion.

She smiled at the little one. She was not designed to cry in happiness.

Yet again, her old programming had wondered into new realms it could not navigate.

Quickly, she turned to look back upon the city skyline.

“Oh…I don’t know…I was thinking…the city…it’s just so beautiful isn’t it?”

The kids looked out on the elegant towers of the metropolis as flying ships gracefully drifted between them.

They could see it’s beauty anew as only children can.
