Token has been something of a mainstay for Inigo Kennedy ever since their very first release back in 2007. In the past eight years, we have seen a flurry of inspiring releases from the producer, each crafted with more finesse than the last. Last year, Token also saw the release of the Vaudeville LP. Here, Kennedy carved out a space in which to take on a more considered approach, thus allowing the experimental side of his sound to blossom. Clarion Call is Kennedy’s first release since 2014’s Vaudeville, returning to the EP format with poise. 
 
The EP itself covers wide sonic ground in a short amount of time. It opens with pads that swell to euphoric heights, before crashing into a jittering hyper-sequenced groove. ‘The Fold’ lumbers forward in an off-centre rhythmic direction, wrong-footing the beat at every turn. But yet, the kicks on ‘Kepler’ land on the eardrums like boxing gloves to the face. Each thump gives the right-hook-left-hook treatment to the stereo-field. By the end, Kennedy’s percussive workout has reached its climax, and the fragments that remain recede into the surroundings. 
 
Kennedy has a special talent for marrying earth-shattering dynamics with rapturous atmospheres. Where many producers whip up grandiose sci-fi soundscapes, Kennedy reels back to the dark and poignant. The result is an EP with sorrowful depth and technical power in equal measure. If this EP is a clarion call from Kennedy to his listeners, it is a call-to-arms to producers and club-goers alike. Kennedy reminds us: we should expect more from the dance-floor.

Such Unimportant Things Like Us is ICR's most mature (and probably his final) drum and bass work to date, incorporating the very essence of his love of precisious drumworks and sensual musicality. The album is built around one topic that can be easily read out from the titles: it's about love and struggle for acceptance. As with this final chapter he closes his dnb roots, a new stage is already set: To Make Right What's Left is a necessary step forward, focused on 4/4 territory and other mid-tempo genres. The trademark deep and cinematic ICR sound remains the same, but in new forms. The double album is the best way to gain insight ICR's mind and soul thru his forward-thinking music in full spectre.

After 6 cassettes Tapes Sublimating is back with their first vinyl EP: 'Venus' by Altered Natives. He released his excellent 8th album last year and still hasn't run out of ideas. Four tracks telling four stories in different scenes with the whole thing tied together by the tale-teller’s trademark sounds and atmosphere with contribution from Budapest’s AIWA on the closing track.
Opener ‘Venus’ is a journey itself. Taking you deeper and deeper to a menacing dungeon second by second. It is dark there. You get lost and unsure what is going to happen. Panic kicks in and you feel something is coming when suddenly… Catharsis. After a while you can open your eyes and get back on your feet. ‘Acid Reign’ is the most earthly of the four scenes. Everything seems clear for a minute, but then it slowly takes you away, losing your head again. Next scene: leaving the planet, outside the Earth orbit. ‘Protohype’ is floating in space. It is beautiful up there, but also scary and haunting. Finally AIWA takes you a few lightyears away, when everything becomes blurry and even less familiar. Silence. You only hear your heartbeat, when suddenly the drama continues. Be careful, no escaping this.

Zoltan Gal as known as ICR is the founder of the hungarian electronic music scene's well respected home, ImpulseCreator - serving the drum and bass and urban music community since 1999. Besides his work as an editor and journalist, dozens of releases proved that his artistic vein is fulled with musical variety and uncpompromising creativity. After releasing on various acclaimed dnb labels (Good Looking, Offshore, Cov Ops, Influence, Counter Intelligence, MJazz) and his tunes were spinned by the likes of DJ Flight, Grooverider, Fabio, Tony Colman or Marcus Intalex - he started running his own label. Misspent Music lived two years, recruiting a group of like-minded producers, supporting up and coming artists as well as giving an opportunity to show ICR's experimental side on two full length albums.

Meanwhile releasing his final dnb work (his 5th official, double-LP on Fokuz) his interests of music turned from dnb to slower genres. With EP's on hungarian labels Glack Audio, Chi Recordings, Bounce and international releases on Orson, Nice and Smooth, Society 3.0 and Death Proof, he has already proved that his house, bass, downtempo breaks and techno music is also worth to check. The trademark deep and cinematic ICR sound remains the same, but in new forms.
