Deep Web on Radio Vibration : Icy Fake

In a hopefully continued series of mixes I'll try to explore new sounds and territories as icy fake. Each mix will consist of carefully selected tracks around one theme or concept. Chapter one focuses on the perception of pop and charts music and the appreciation of melody.
Since guilty pleasure music is a construct that only divides songs arbitrarily between cool and uncool, this mix attempts to break down this barrier and draws parallels between commercial produced and experimental music to ultimately show it’s all perception.

Icy Fake, A Case Study: Chapter One

Case study two examines dancehall (-inspired) music and what I particulary like about the genre. Disclaimer: some tracks aren't dancehall at all, but they at least remind me of certain elements.
The first part I'd like to call icy dancehall, mostly because the songs are all emotionally touching and have minimal yet powerful productions. It includes work from contemporary artists like palmistry, organ tapes or orlando who are inspired by or draw elements from the genre but also modern danchall singers such as popcaan, alkaline, hoodcelebrityy or 45diboss. In a true dancehall fashion, some very essential riddims are in there as well.
The second part is somewhat more intense with tracks from vybz kartel, masicka and tommy lee sparta with his self-described gothic dancehall. Furthermore are hitmakerchinx, uninamise and dj aaron represented as pioneers of flex dance music (FDM), a new york born style with roots in early dancehall riddims and is made to 'bruk' to. 
Finally, iIt's only fair to mention this mix is influenced by radio shows from mixpak, gaika, mina and favela worldwide. Go check em out if you like this one.
