Anjunadeep welcomes French producer duo il:lo for their compelling debut release ‘List’, out June 15.

Forming in 2012, il:lo have released on Future Classic, bitbird, Future Archive Recordings and Loci Records, releasing several EPs and remixing the likes of Panama, Jerro, Emancipator and CloZee. Characterised by extensive use of intricate sampling and live instrumentation, il:lo’s whimsical productions are inspired from the duo’s travels, taking their names from valued moments in their journeys.

Reminiscent of Bonobo, Thrupence, and Tycho in its considered composition, ‘List’ marks an exciting debut for il:lo and a sure signifier that they’re ones to watch in 2021.

This song is made entirely out of samples from the kitchen, I used the fridge door, a clock, a coffee grinder and a sodastream machine.

Kitchen Confessions

Day three of Ableton #LoopAtHome and today's challenge is basically to recreate the sound of a fridge (or freezer in my case), sample some items from the kitchen and create a new track from it. And this is the result. 

For the freezer noise, I did my best approximation by humming at the same pitch. This was the same sound I used for the glassy melodic parts, although modified significantly through FX and filters. 

The percussion comes from a beer glass, followed by the sound of a beer can being opened. (I was getting thirsty!)

Once I had the basic fridge noise and rhythm, I added the three interweaving melody lines. They are actually, more or less the same part, just played at three different tempos and three octaves apart. Even if I do say so myself, the finished track gave me goosebumps.

What a fun weekend of experimentation!

Out From The Cold

Submitted as part of #LoopAtHome challenge by Ableton. I used my voice as a fridge noise replica and made the drums from the fridge opening noises. The rest of the sounds used in the track are made from a drain protector, water splashes and a glass.
