This track represents about 6 months of work. It is designed to take the listener on a musical journey, a completely through composition going through 24 minutes of madness. Hope you guys like this, it took a lot of work. :-)

This is the full re-release of 'The Idea Tea' for 2015

It features a number of unreleased tracks which were created around the same time of 'The Idea Tea's original album release. The Main track 'Follow the Love' has been split up and updated for ease of listening. 

This version of the release is coming out on the 11th November, exactly one year after the original album. 

The new album is in the production process right now... though it may be a little while before it gets released. I'm aiming for next year at some point or other. Basically, it'll be out when it's ready.

These tracks were the result of a collaboration between me and Tom Collins for a week away from work. We set up a studio on his farm and created for about 6 days of the week. It was an awesome week, and certainly our most productive attempt at working together. Fuelled mainly by death wish coffee.

This is a lovely track which I recorded at my good friend Tom's farm. It took about 4 hours of fiddling with synths and recording flute and acoustic guitar, a bit of mixing and then deciding that it was pretty enough that it didn't need much more work.

The Idea Tea is Dave Thompson. The aim here is purely and simply to "brew idea tea", the explore musical ideas regardless of genre, to collaborate with musicians purely in the name of enjoyment and musical creation and generally to create tracks which sound awesome.

As far as genre, it's difficult to go down the route of saying what I do is genre-less. A more accurate description would be anything goes, with an electronic twist. My roots are in playing jazz, funk, rock, reggae, psychedelic guitar, and those influences certainly come through in my choices. I like to combine sonic synthesis, synthesisers, guitars, various types of drums, and granular synthesis. Analogue warmth with digital insanity. Organic musicianship with digital editing. Old and the new. Ying and the yang.
