DIS:TURBED's newly-founded Identity Records imprint kicks off with a huge bang, bringing through 4 of the Drum & Bass scene's most exciting talents for a dark, subterranean debut EP. Here, we see a selection of upcoming powerhouses go to town on the much-loved minimal sound, namely Recon, Half Cab, Medusa and Hickupz, the latter of which we recently dropped a collaborative Premiere / Free Download with, check that via our 'Free Downloads' playlist. Back to this EP, and we're treated to a masterclass in devilish sonics from Recon, who's kicked up a storm on 'Dark Places'. Fabulously textured and warped, this is plucked straight out of the top-drawer from a producer who's sure to go on to do big things in the scene. Clicky, snappy percs meet sharp, robotic atmospherics in a hybrid of sounds that works perfectly - what an opener.

OTW Premiere / Free DL: Recon - Dark Places [Identity Records]

For our next release, Engage have gone international. Budding Colombian producer Asura has come through with a stomping EP - Off Switch - that's sure to get any dance floor moving.

This foghorn funk filled 3 track EP hits hard and heavy, bursting with South American energy merged with classic UK drum and bass sounds.

The EPs title track "Off Switch" is as futurist sounding as it is classic dnb. The over processed, computerised vocal sample lulls you into a false sense of security before the drop punches you in the face. The mids and bass rip through you, making the track simply mental.

The following two tracks do not disappoint either, both following in the footsteps of Off Switch in levels of insanity. "Go Wrong" and "Sanitizer" both hit home with the vibe of the EP bringing a mixture of 2010 dancefloor and 2020 chaos.

All in all, this EP slaps faces and takes no prisoners. Asura is one to watch, Follow him here:

Starting off with an array of dark atmospherics and a distant vocal, 'Archaic' doesn't take long to jump straight in at the deeper end of the DNB spectrum. Coming through with steppy drums and long reese basses, Caaza manages to combine modern style synthesis with that classic jungle-esque vibe that we all know and love! Without a doubt, this one is sure to tear apart any crowd it's graced upon!
