Knee Socks - Arctic Monkeys Cover

I lost my hero yesterday. This is a one-take, emotional but cathartic cover of Chris Cornell's "Blow Up The Outside World", one of the songs that seems all too relevant now. As someone who's struggled with mental illness and suicidal urges since their teens, the death of Chris really hit home and broke my heart. 

He was one of my main influences while growing up and played a huge part in my life - from my teens with Badmotorfinger and Superunknown to the birth of my daughter after Euphoria Morning - and his death feels like the loss of a family member to me. Celebrity deaths don't usually bother me beyond the initial surprise, but this was different.

This is just my attempt to say thank you to Chris as this song saved my life on more than one occasion. The lyrics are heartbreaking now, but it felt appropriate to put my own spin on this as a tribute to my vocal hero and someone who changed my life forever.

I recorded this as part of my vocal practice today. It's a cover of Living Colour's "Love Rears It's Ugly Head", a song I've loved for years but only finally got around to trying today. I've had to adapt my vocal style due to an injury, so this and future tracks will involve ongoing improvement in sound.
