Careful what you wish for... Heeding words from Joppe Tanghe (Gent, BE) as he mourns the passing of a dear friend. Synths and guitars converge, breathe, expand and culminate into a beautifully painful silence in a heart wrenching song about friendship, discovery and tragic loss. 
His soothing voice harmonises effortlessly with the instruments and creates a delicate balance of sorrow and bittersweet nostalgia.

Having performed with different bands, Joppe finally takes center stage as he draws inspiration from life and love while adding a wonderful pinch of humour to his stories. These stories will come together and form his debut album, coming later this year on Moodfamily.

Two visionary maestros, Pierre Bastien and Michel Banabila, unite in their first collaborative album, Baba Soirée. The veterans of electronic music bring their unique expertise to the table, resulting in a captivating fusion of experimental styles. Bastien’s mechanical loops and experimental instrumental setups merge seamlessly with Banabila's sound design and impeccable skills of sampling collages. It's not a dance party, nor is it an avant-garde intervention. It's a soirée: a cultivated evening of sonic alchemy hosted by these two charismatic gentlemen.

Pierre Bastien is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a background in French literature. He has spent decades crafting an idiosyncratic world of experimental sound with his self-built mechanical orchestra Mecanium. It was most notably showcased in audiovisual releases on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label. Bastien's creations are a mesmerizing combination of traditional instruments (he has a vast collection) and mechanical automatons. The violin in the track Rotomotor, for example, is physically played by one of his machines. In Baba Soirée, Bastien also plays a prepared cornet (Slow Dance, Banbas Aura), infusing the recordings with a breathy, dreamy dimension.

Michel Banabila, a sound artist, composer and producer, possesses an eclectic musical repertoire that defies genres. His seamless blend of minimal electronica, tribal ambient, and neo-classical influences has earned him a prominent place in the world of experimental music, and an impressive discography (Knekelhuis, Bureau B, Séance Center, a.o.). Banabila serves as the creative sampling editor for Baba Soirée, expertly weaving together the recordings to craft an evocative sonic tapestry.

The two share a curiosity for traditional instruments from various cultures. The instruments used in the recordings are shown in the cover artwork. A mutual admiration for each other's work paved the way for this fruitful artistic partnership of the Rotterdam-based artists: Collaborating on a single as a fundraiser for Yemen in 2022 set the stage for the creation of Baba Soirée.

For Pierre Bastien, Dada, Fluxus and International Situationism have played a significant role in shaping his artistic vision. The title Baba Soirée is an homage to Kurt Schwitters and Theo van Doesburg's "Kleine Dada Soirée" collaboration which took place exactly a century ago. There's an unmistakable stoicism and an anarchic not-giving-a-f*** attitude in these recordings by Bastien & Banabila, which resonates in the light of this Dada reference.

'Bumblebeez' producer and frontman Christopher Colonna - Australia’s answer to Pablo Picasso - steps out to the world with an extended player of pure, unadulterated sonic imagination that perfectly represents the ethos of Multi Culti's vibe. 
 
Largely written and produced in the backwoods of Hackney in 2014 and refined at the ‘BBZ HQ Braidwood 2622,’ the songs take cues from all over the place: classical composers, trips to South Africa, the electricity of the Diwali festival, peace of mind, French women recalling their sexual nightmares, yearning for the Outback & Global roaming. Layers of tropical sounds, a collection of myriad samples & bedroom beats all at play together in an alternate reality. These uncut diamonds were previously unreleased, but an early version of Ghana was included on Multi Culti Japan, which got support from Roman Flügel, Erol Alkan and Boris Dlugosch, among others. Exoticaspeakerjam was also exclusively featured on Tiga’s BBC Radio1 mix.

It's useless to categorize, and difficult to describe, but what matters most is that the listen is warm and rewarding. It's dense with ideas, but the whole thing is wrapped up in a light-hearted charm that feels extra-precious today.

Repping Cologne and Berlin is Niklas Wandt, Germany’s funkiest drummer and a mixed musical artist as adept in experimental jazz as demen- ted Euro dance. Standing toe to toe in a no holds barred, no drum unstruck groove contest, these two titans will make you swing your pants like a Crash Bandicoot victory dance...so stretch out and step in to ‚Instrumentalmusik von der Mitte der World‘.
Taking to their task with the joyful abandon of two big kids getting creative with the Kindergar- ten music tray, Müller & Wandt marry dripping electronics, Froesean pads and rubber-limbed basslines with tribal polyrhythms, C2 claps and Indonesian shakers - and that‘s only on the A1. Comprising of three trance-inducing epics, a handful of medium-sized movers and a couple of freeform interludes, this dynamic double pack could almost pass as a lost Library masterpiece; but our mind guides go Furthur, fusing esoteric funk and free-jazz freak-out a truly transportive experience. Prepare to enter a world of techno totems and neon skulls, shades of Yello and excel- lent birds. Within these grooves lies a transdimensional pathway between the Temple of Doom, the Twilight Zone and De Palma‘s Paradise, brought to life in a shamanic rite.
Forget the healing frequencies of Growing Bin‘s ambient outings, this time we‘re dancing for mental health.

Bar To Navagio (Pawas' Extended Version) - Arleta

On side-A, Nicola Cruz tracks Apnea and Marea blend dembow and soca rhythms with modular music, leaving space for these harmonics to create dance patterns. Both are a duality of ideas that have travelled across the oceans, from Africa to South America, and back, reinforcing the idea of accentuation in music, rather than the usual straight forward dance structure. These are songs that evoke a primitive feeling, crafted on a contemporary head.

On side-B, Pigmalião tracks B2 and Ocrânimo explore acid lines and syncopated rhythms for darker dance floor environments in distinct BPMs sealing a proper b-side storytelling for the release.
