I went through my collection picking out what I associated with that description.
A lot of it ended up...
...not having much of a melody in any conventional sense
...being released on labels from Bristol (the almighty Livity Sound in particular)
...being by artists from Detroit
...being produced in Berlin
...obviously inspired by music falling under one or more of the above
...or some combination of these

This is how I put it together. Hope you enjoy!

Recorded at home in Berlin using two Technics 1210 MK2 and one Ecler Nuo 3.0.
No FX, no filter, one take (and four or more failed attempts, depending on how you count).
