Cihangir always enjoys the production process that starts with a feeling, an idea, or a voice he hears at that moment. He loves the obscurity where it leads him and the feeling that comes after. Following two successful EPs finally comes the long awaited release of Stereoclip's first album. Since his first EP, 'It's About the Time' released on Délicieuse Records, media outlets across Europe haven't been shy to show their support. Following several features on top chart compilations released by French heavy weights like Wagram and Universal, Max came into high demand and was soon sent to tour through France and Belgium to showcase his music.

Getting back from this first experience, and following a self released second EP, Max decided to take his music in another direction while focusing on variating his instrumentals and at a set harmony. Many of his musician friends contributed to 'Hometown', infusing diverse influences from D&B to deep Berlin electronic music, as well as pop and rock n’ roll samples. For such an eclectic mix the result was surprisingly refreshing. Due to such an immaculate execution did the fusion of sounds mesh organically.

What brings a mere coherence to his past discography and recent album is Stereoclip's noticeable hunt for new soundscapes. He bridges the gap between unique concepts and varying instrumentals to create a solid and underlying sound identity.

Beyond moving bodies and stirring emotion, music can also be a powerful vehicle for social change. Every90Minutes, in conjunction with Gravitas Recordings, has curated a unique compilation of electronic music for an important cause. "Beat ALS" spans 17 tracks across a number of genres with 100% of the proceeds directly benefiting Every90Minutes, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to funding ALS research through music and events. The release features a truly memorable cast of international talent including Bassnectar, BT, Tritonal, Richie Hawtin, Dub FX, John Acquaviva, ill.gates, Matthew Dear, Machinedrum and many more. Track vibes ranging from dubstep to techno meet downtempo and cinematic sections with class, weaving a sense of poetic diversity throughout the album.

Jay Smith, the Founder of music tech company Livid Instruments, started Every90Minutes after his own diagnosis with ALS earlier this year. The Foundation is dedicated to funding the most promising research and treatment for ALS, and provides an inspirational beacon for others affected by his disease. Apart from the "Beat ALS" compilation, Every90Minutes is working on a number of multifaceted initiatives to raise both funds and awareness for ALS. (en)Hearing WEVAL's music for the very first time, you might wonder from what geniuses' vault of vintage milestones these sounds have been pulled: the Dutch duo's incredibly catchy arrangements seem perfused by a rarefied pop magic that only a chosen few have truly mastered. Surely, this must be the work of a well- established veteran – or two youngsters so massively talented that it borders on the obscene. Weval's EASIER EP is here to demonstrate that it wasn't an accident, either - with four epic cuts that will haunt you long after you've left the floor.

The 2013 debut "Half Age EP" from Dutch newcomers Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers aka WEVAL struck a perfect balance between ingenuous simplicity and warm melodies: a rare moment of rapture and certainly one of those records that you wish you would've released yourself – which is probably why we smuggled an exclusive Weval track onto the tracklist of our much-acclaimed "Total 14" compilation (KOMPAKT 310 CD 118). There, the duo's dreamy, yet dynamic variant of slow-burning, sweeping house held up more than well with the other high caliber names present on the record - leading us directly to the phenomenal outing at hand.

With its glistening melodies and rousing beats, WEVAL's EASIER EP displays a staggering sense for danceable drama - spread over four expertly crafted tracks that will speak to your hearts and feet through radiant synths, ardent vocal snippets and sublime melodies. From pawing opener GIMME SOME to synth power ballad ONE, the introspective THINKING OF and title anthem EASIER, this is a rather beautifully flowing listening experience, not at all betraying the slightly yeasty circumstances of its creation: "we made this EP in two totally different moods", the producers explain, "we were both totally in love with two different girls, but for both of us it didn't work out – and to be clear, this was not our choice."

However, the defeat led to a phase of high productivity and research: "we felt terrible but we had a new EP we could work on and spend days and days finding a new sound." A couple of months and gear updates later, "the winter was gone and surprisingly it all worked out with those girls." Suddenly flush with happy feelings, Harm and Merijn finally hit the stride and quickly wrapped up production – resulting in an impactful wealth of emotions permeating all four tracks: "you can almost hear these two different moods we were in – it gets from cool, euphoric to dramatic and intense at the end."

Die unglaublich eingängigen Arrangements des niederländischen Duos scheinen durchwirkt mit jener verfeinerten Pop-Magie welche nur die wenigsten Künstler zu beherrschen wissen. Sicherlich ist dies das Werk eines wohlbekannten Elektronik-Veteranen - oder das von zwei jungen Newcomern die so massiv talentiert sind, daß es fast obszön ist. Wevals EASIER EP belegt außerdem daß es sich nicht um einen Zufall handelte - dank vier epischen Tracks die einem noch lange nach der Party in den Ohren hängen.

Dort bewegte sich der verträumt-dynamische Stil des Duos - köchelnder, mitreißender House - auf Augenhöhe mit den anderen hochkalibrigen Namen der Platte… was uns direkt zum vorliegenden, phänomenalen Release bringt.

Mit glitzernden Melodien und aufrührerischen Beats beweist WEVALs EASIER EP einen verblüffenden Sinn fürs tanzbare Drama - verteilt über vier meisterhaft verfugte Nummern, die mit strahlenden Synthesizern, engagierten Vocals und sublimen Melodien zu Herzen und Füßen gleichermaßen sprechen. Vom hufscharrenden Opener GIMME SOME zur Synth-Powerballade ONE, dem introspektiven THINKING OF und der TItelhymne EASIER entpuppt sich der Flow als überaus gelungen - zu keinem Zeitpunkt verraten sich hier die einigermaßen veflixten Umstände der Produktion: "wir haben diese EP in zwei völlig verschiedenen Stimmungen gemacht", erklären die Produzenten, "wir waren beide völlig verknallt in zwei verschiedene Mädchen, doch für keinen von uns schien das gut auszugehen - und das war nicht unsere eigene Entscheidung, um ganz deutlch sein."

Wie dem auch sei, die Niederlage führte geradewegs in eine Phase großer Produktivität und intensiver Klangforschung: "wir fühlten uns furchtbar, doch wir hatten ja eine neue EP zu produzieren und konnten uns über Tage hinweg in neuen Sounds verlieren." Ein paar Monate und Equipment-Updates später "war der Winter vorbei und überraschenderweise funktionierte es jetzt auch mit den Mädchen." Plötzlich vom guten Gefühl umgeben, fanden Harm und Merijn schnell ihren Rhythmus und konnten die Produktion zum Abschluß bringen - resultierend in einem eindrucksvollen Reichtum an Emotionen, der alle vier Tracks durchdringt: "man kann diese zwei verschiedenen Stimmungen in denen wir uns befanden tatsächlich hören - es geht von cool, euporisch zu dramatisch und intensiv am Ende."

Berlin-based DJ and production duo Tale of Us take a step back from their busy touring and production schedule to compile the latest instalment of Renaissance's 'The Mix Collection' series. 

“We put this mix together in Mexico, looking out at a beautiful sea in a magical spot in the Yucatan, surrounded by friends and label mates as we recovered from an intense new year's and BPM rush. It was the perfect setting to take on something like this, looking back at the year behind us, not concerned so much by genres and boundaries as much as by assembling a musical picture of where we're at, where we've been and most importantly a little bit of where we're going. Each of the two mixes is a journey unto itself but together they can be seen as our musical chiaroscuro, reflecting a bit of the two sides of the way we think both about DJing and producing. It's hard to confine ourselves to just over 2 hours when there is so much music we've fallen in love with but this is the best reflection of this moment in time for us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.”

Throughout their first mix the duo move effortlessly between the driving aesthetics of Kollektiv Turmstrasse and anthemic highs of Scuba to more experimental and angular remixes from Baths and Four Tet. The second mix takes a distinctly more mininal approach, with the textures of Daniel Avery, Recondite, Robert Hood and Extrawelt's productions taking the driving seat and remixes from the likes of Donato Dozzy and DJ Koze switching up already excellent originals. Across both mixes Tale of Us have managed to balance the deep, melodic, upbeat and sometimes more challenging elements of electronic music through careful selection and programming to ensure both have the flow and finesse that listeners have come to expect of a Renaissance release.

Tale of Us are certainly no strangers to the decks, between throwing their own 'Just This' secret loft parties in Milan, regular fixtures at renowned clubs such as Berlin's Watergate, Ibiza's DC10 as well as live and DJ sets at festivals such as Sonar and Movement. Alongside this, their productions have caught the attention of Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss, who released their debut EP on Visionquest in 2011. 

The Mix Collection series saw it's inaugural 1994 release from Sasha & John Digweed, who set a new standard for the DJ compilation format. Since then Renaissance has undergone a musical shift, with recent contributions from M.A.N.D.Y., Gui Boratto and now Tale of Us helping to bring the original spirit of the brand to a new generation of music aficionados.
