The first part of my 7 1/2 hour set at the Static Channel event in Philadelphia on February 28th, 2016, where I played open to close. Special thanks to everyone who helped make it happen and to everyone who came out - it was easily one of the best parties I've played in the States.

Transcendental Movements Vol. 1 marks the beginning of a new full-length ambient series, curated by IDO founder Valentino Mora. 

Since the age of 14, Mora has been searching for alternative tools to relieve anxiety. In 2016, he discovered the music of Marow and Olaf Tonstein and found that through listening to this particular music he was able to access a new state of meditation. This began the journey of researching the technique he calls ‘active mediation’.  

When he discovered that a lot of Marow and Olaf Tonstein’s music from 2009 had never been released on vinyl, he knew he needed to release it one day. In their work, Mora identified a feeling pertinent to the concept of the label, one that exemplified the connection between minimal/ambient/glitch and IDO’s ambient house sound.

From there he reached out to other artists that he felt could relate to this idea, and asked them to contribute a track in response to the concept.  The resulting compilation varies in tempo and technique, illustrating each artist’s idiosyncrasies, yet as a whole it forms a cohesive and potent statement.

Active meditation differs from regular stationary meditation through the focusing of one’s attention on sound whilst in motion — the form this motion takes is personal. The goal of active meditation is to transcend one’s awareness of motion — in fact, the awareness of being in a body — and to become absorbed entirely in the sound. Mora found that this process has the potential to ease anxiety as all conscious thought is alleviated through concentrated focus on music. 

For the cover artwork, Mora selected a painting from visual artist Raphael Lecoquierre, in which the movement, airiness and minimalism elicits a profound sense of calm. Mora also invited writer and artist, Lou Drago, to interpret the concept in words. Their text, Suspending Reality, features on the inside of the gatefold cover.

C12 is a multidisciplinary nightclub and platform run by the Deep in House collective, located in the heart of Brussels. It's a safe place where freedom, diversity, creativity and alternative culture are protected from the restrictive and normative outside world. The project was launched in February 2018 and includes concerts, art installations, lives, club nights and exhibitions.

The Corona crisis is keeping our doors closed and dancefloor empty for several weeks now, with no hopes yet on new line-ups and crowds of enthusiastic dancers. But this unprecedented situation isn’t holding us still. Continuing to support our local Brussels and Belgian electronic music scene, C12 is proud to announce its own label with 10 music compilations dubbed Social Distancing. All artists involved are Belgian or strongly connected to the Brussels scene. Confirmed are Le Motel, Stellar OM Source, A.Brehme, Front De Cadeaux, Davy, OCB Casa Voyager, Cabasa, Techno Thriller, Orphan Swords, Different Fountains, Bear Bones Lay Low, Gols, Hadone, ... and our residents Session 4000, Kafim & Chris Ferreira. Compilations will also be curated by female artists promoting platform ‘Psst Mlle’ and queer culture collective ‘Benediction’.

Each edition consists of a collection of several tracks and will be released every two weeks, leading to a total of approximately fifty tracks. All music will be available to add on your favorite streaming service Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify and Bandcamp. In addition for each track we offer a limited amount of 500 free downloads through our Bandcamp page, where donations are also enabled for those who wish to support us and the artists involved.

Our neighbour Laura BCR dropped by. Dreamy and dubby heavy duty in this beauty.

Laura BCR has been steadily making her mark in contemporary electronic music in recent times, with firm feet in the electronic music via her various endeavors such as her now defunct Bass Cadet Records shop in Berlin where she takes her name from.

”I collected lot of music these past few months, spending hours on Bandcamp, discovering new tunes and having also friends sending music (shout out to Sure Thing and Oslated). I wanted to make a good compilation of ambient, experimental, breaks and techno all together going from a very abstract mode kind of melo and finally linking everything with some dance floor tracks I would love to dance on actually - this mix is quite dark with some intense parts I would say. + You can hear two new tracks that will be release at the end of the month on our 17-tracks charity compilation with On Board Music. One if from KMRU and one from me.”

“Yokota’s music was always completely individual, always esoteric yet never willfully indulgent. His touch was that of a master craftsman, creating intricate musical jewels that sparkled like no others. There’s no doubt that if he had been in a position to play live concerts his reputation would far exceed many of his contemporaries. He will be sorely missed by those who value quality and originality in music”.

A clear tribute Eafhm make to him consisting of several sessions and live performances with a special dedication, full of love and a lot of hard work on. Fun, demented, freewheeling, colourful, narcotic and oddly human. A fully acknowledgment of gratitude, respect and admiration. Timeless. Thanks.

The Berlin-based label, Faintest Ink welcomes the duo Sea Ef (Claudio Fabrianesi and Filippo Brancadoro) and their 'Acid Sperimentale' EP for the third release in its catalog. Besides the original track, the release also features remixes by Tuomo Väänänen and On Board Music founder, Laura BCR.

Laura's take on 'Acid Sperimentale' has haunting ambient tones paired with drone undercurrents for a pretty pleasant journey into which the listener can drift freely and create their imagination. Somewhere in the middle of the journey, Laura introduces percussion, which serves as a perfect addition to an intricately layered track.

'Acid Sperimentale' EP is coming out on December 4th via Faintest Ink.
