@aurore404records is welcoming French artist @souffle-caramel for an EP of jazzy house music cooked during lockdown. The EP “Club de Jazz“ has been composed with his drum machines, synths, and the help of musician friends (pianist, saxophonist, trumpetist), whose performances are heard all throughout the EP. Through his music, Soufflé Caramel is taking us to a New York jazz club in the mid 1960’s and the loungey, airy atmosphere of the EP sets the scene for a record full of smooth-jazz vibes with a soaring affection for the deeper side of things.

Paris based Tour-Maubourg has shot to prominence over recent years with a succession of quality deep house releases on the likes of Shall Not Fade. Here he puts his unique touch on Montel's 'Can't Be Afraid To Make Mistakes' and takes things super deep. This one is a must for the late night floors and after parties!

Following on from their Fabric presents mix compilation in April, Chaos In The CBD return with the lead single ’Sirena Deep’ from a forthcoming EP on their much loved In Dust We Trust imprint. 

This classy Deep House track is one for the early hours of the night, with a warm and deep rolling bass line and beautifully layered keys. Washed over with a stunning flute accompaniment from long-term collaborator and legendary jazz musician Nathan Haines which adds the extra magic to this outstanding production.

Marquis Hawkes marks his fifth release for Aus with another classy 2 tracker titled, 'The Phoenix' (Part 1 and Part 2). The Phoenix follows up summer hit 'The Basement Is Burning' which saw Midland, The Black Madonna and Gerd Janson all supporting at festivals worldwide.

The Phoenix is two takes on one concept. 

Part One takes the Disco and House amalgam which Marquis has developed in recent times to it’s logical conclusion, perfectly walking the tightrope between joyous abandon and classy depth, and giving DJs the perfect weapon for all floors, from sweaty basements right the way through to much bigger dancefloors. 

Part Two then flips the program with the same raw materials and sets up the perfect shot, directed at a big room House/Techno crossover, building on the foundations laid by the Detroit techno originators by infusing contemporary production values and a more modern twist.

The Phoenix is something of a landmark EP for Marquis Hawkes, once again redefining his sound. We can't wait to hear what he does next.

Cosmic Boogie asked me to put a mix together for his re-launched blog so I put this edit together as a little exclusive for the mix and thought I'd share it here seeing as the original version (either on Chicago's Gherkin or or Italy's D-Vision) is currently changing hands for £40 plus on Discogs!

Released back in 1991, it's still for me one of the most seductive house records ever...

A few things gigwise for February. As well as the usual bit's at West London's 'The Regent' and East London's 'Big In Japan' night, I'm also playing for the Shameless Disco boy's at The Drop in Stoke Newington alongside rising star Ben Sun, really looking forward to that.

The still fresh Label "Foul & Sunk" is about to release their fifth EP, and still not an year old! This time ist is the debut single from Oldschool-House affictionado Borrowed Identity. Though still young, you could easily believe that he was there since the beginning, producing a fusion of Detroit- and Chicago- Style House with his own up-to-date Flavour.

And he got the fantastic Mark E to finish the A-Side of this 4-Track Record with a remix!

The A Side starts with "Stimulation". And that's a perfect name for this track that comes with a really dry and classic combination of smashing snairs and a bumping bassline, soon accompanied by a spheric synth that sends you flying on the dancefloor. This one's a soon to be classic that feels like produced with the trippy afterhours of grimey underground clubs in mind, but can be played at every part of your set – if you play it right, that is.

The A2 is the Mark E Remix No.9 of "Stimulation". And it draws a clear line between everything called "edit" and a proper remix. His own Interpretation of this track reminds of a steam machine, gaining force as it rolls forward, using the sounds of the original mix to build up a totally different energy – one that is demanding but at the same time keeps you going and wanting more.

The B Side doesn't come short, either.
"Faith", the first track on the Flipside (if you're a vinyl lover) is a bit more laidback, but on the dancefloor a huge shaker! Smooth keys and soothing vocals paired with a straight kick, thriving drums and a perfect snair to top it off . Smooth, but sill made to dance to.

The B2, "Enter the Void", is a track that's more than worthy to finish off this wonderful record. It's the deepest of the pack and an 8-minutes monster of a track that takes it's time. Dub meets House and shows how Deephouse can and should sound like.

All in all a true gem that will not go out ouf style as long as there is House.
