This is one to share from a recent band rehearsal of Fat Wallet- Switzerland, that was recorded the "old-school" way- with 8 microphones, 1 on vocals, 2 on guitar, 1 on bass.  2 overhead mics on drums, 1 snare mic, and 1 bass drum mic.  played on my Fender u.s.a. strat, 1 marshall head, 1 marshall cab. fx- Uni-vibe- which gives that classic Hendrix sound. I'm proud of this recording, as it was impromtu of our only 2nd. rehearsal ! - Eliot Chambers - gtr. vocs, Walter Schüpbach- bass, and Markus Kalti- fantastic drums. "A Space Oddity" recorded and released in 1969- the year man walked on the moon, was a hit for David Bowie, and an artistic masterpiece...produce by Gus Dudgeon. I have always loved this song, long before I could play guitar or sing- so it was the greatest pleasure to re-make this song with my Fat Wallet Band-mates, Markus Kalt- Drums and Walter Schüpbach at the I.E.M. Recording studio, my studio in Switzerland.. as Engineer and producer I took great care in the recording process, to try and capture as close as possible the vintage tones and vibes of the original version. Our version was recorded with acoustic drums, no plug ins, no quantizing, or editing of the drum tracks, my Marshall model 1987x amp, an Ampeg SVT Bass amp, my Takamine Acoustic guitar, and microphones. old school, not pro tools. Enjoy the results- this was a labor of love- Eliot Chambers, Guitarist /Vocalist and Bowie fan.

This recording served 2 purposes, one, I am a huge fan of the early works of the band Queen, so this was a labor of love, 2ndly..It is a training song as I am learning my new recording system- the Presonus 32 track live/studio desk and the studio One version 7 DAW- this is a big learning curve for me, and this is the first completed song recorded and produced on this sytem at my studio I.E.M.- Switzerland.. My band mates and myself are very pleased with the results- Markus Kalt on Drums, Walter Schüpbach on Bass, myself -Eliot Chambers on Guitars and vocals- special thanks to Peggy Punk for singing additional backing vocals- we all hope you enjoy this classic Queen song, and remember -what a great singer/composer Freddy Mercury was.

After legendary Soul singer David Ruffin left Motown Record artist's-"The Temptations" he released the jewel of a song..it went to number 4 in 1969 on the R+B Soul charts. I love this song, and that is why I tried alone in my recording study to recapture it's magic.
