Ifa y Xango are a number of musicians based in Belgium and Brazil. The group was founded in 2010 with all of the seven musicians in the band playing acoustic instruments and self- composed music at the time. Since releasing their debut album Abraham, which was elected as "Best debut album" by the New York City Jazz Record in 2013, they have expanded the band with three new members. The group is proud to present their upcoming second album “twice left handed \\ shavings”, inspired by the band's love for experimental electronic dance music, trance music and musique concrète on el NEGOCITO Records. The recording will be released as a limited edition vinyl on the upcoming concerts. Ifa y Xango is a part of the Troika collective.

Ifa y Xango bestaat uit enkele muzikanten, verblijvende in België en Brazilie. De groep werd opgericht in 2010 toen de zeven leden van het ensemble hun eigen geschreven muziek wilden vertolken. Sinds hun debuutplaat “Abraham”, tevens geselecteerd als "Best debut album" door de New York City Jazz Record in 2013, is de groep uitgebreid met drie nieuwe muzikanten. Ifa y Xango stelt hun tweede plaat “twice left handed \\ shavings” voor, ontstaan uit hun voorliefde voor experimentele elektronische muziek, trance muziek en musique concrèteon op het label el NEGOCITO Records. Ifa y Xango is a contemporary jazz ensemble based in Brussels and Antwerp. The name refers to two dualities in afro-latino religion. Ifa represents traditional knowledge and wisdom while Xango refers to fire, dance and passion. These two sides are represented in their music. Ifa y Xango's original compositions are often a starting point for improvisation. Composed parts from the different instruments get moved around the ensemble to ensure unique perfomances everytime the band gathers. You can hear orchestral soundscape explorations in the music, some complex rhythmic structures and collectively improvised passages.

Ifa y Xango is een hedendaags jazz ensemble afkomstig uit Brussel en Antwerpen. De naam verwijst naar twee goddelijkheden uit de Afro-Latin religies. Ifa staat voor traditionele kennis en wijsheid terwijl Xango het vuur, de dans en passie vertegenwoordigt. Beide uitersten zijn vertegenwoordigd in de muziek van Ifa y Xango. De eigen composities van de groep worden afgewisseld met grote stukken improvisatie. De muziek van Ifa y Xango wordt getypeerd door vrije passages, orkestrale soundscapes en vaak complexe ritmische structuren.
