Dreaming Neon Currents (Igneous Flame rework)

A rework of the track 'Dream of Form' from my 'Iris' album'. 
Spatial environmental recordings from a Zoom h2.n recorder were incorporated with tonal drone textures to create a very different track from the original.

Recording of rain underneath a carport. Recorded as binaural and M+S, mixed to stereo, using a Zoom H2.n. The binaural recordings were made with a pair of Primo EM172 capsules.

There's a woodland stream about a mile or so from where I live, It's a lovely spot and on a quiet day, the stream tinkles along very nicely, so I decided to record it and then thought it'd be cool to make a montage from the recordings I made.

I recorded the stream in five 'parts' - moving around the stream in different locations and proximities, relative to it . This created different sonic 'elements', some more spatial - surf-like (at a distance), others more directional - 'gloopy' sounds (closer to). Turning my head slowly whilst recording gave a spatial panning effect which was interesting. The montage ebbs and flows and creates a far larger soundscape in parts, than the actual sound that the rather small stream actually makes. 


Recorded with a set of 'home-made' binaural mics made from a matched pair of Primo E172 mic capsules, into a Zoom H2.n recorder.  No effects / processing, just a tiny bit of high pass filtering to reduce some intermittent traffic noise and some minimal Eq.

One Day I Will Disappear (rain Version)

A montage of ambisonic recordings made using a Zoom h2.n and converted for binaural (headphone) playback.
The recordings are of the same stream taken at different distances and there is a 'panning' part at the end, which is achieved by moving the Zoom recorder around in a circle.

Ambisonic recording (using a Zoom H2.n) converted to binaural, of a very heavy, slow moving thunderstorm. Slightly pitched down as well, to accentuate the low rumblings.

Deluge

Processed binaural recording of the noise made by two military fighter jets (sound like F-15s) taken in the otherwise tranquil surroundings of a river bank in the countryside. There is some 'binaural reverb' applied as part of the processing.

Pete Kelly AKA Igneous Flame, is a singular artist who walks his own path. He strives to create ethereal, subtle yet powerful ambient music without pandering to trend or overt influence.

Since 2003, he has created a body of work containing 12 solo and collaborative releases. His catalogue contains polar opposites of ethereal, sonorous work as well as more difficult, unsettling material. His work has been played on New Age radio stations as well as having being reviewed in Industrial music magazines. He endeavours to create a sonic canvas containing a wide range of colour and texture, not being limited to any particular sub-genre.

He worked for a long time on his ambient material prior to releasing his first album,'Tolmon' in 2003 and has achieved significant critical acclaim and radio airplay since then. Characteristically, his albums have an esoteric and a spatial element. The former arising from his hyper-sensitivity and the latter from his interest in surround- sound techniques.

His considerable musical background and experience makes him highly discriminating, releasing albums that have seen a considerable amount of 'self-editing'. He enjoys collaborative projects, particularly relishing the role of Producer.

Igneous Flame is influenced by the natural world, mystery, beauty, dreams and silence.
