Perfectly melding the bassline with dreamy keys to create a mesmerizing atmosphere.

Since 2007, Kaitaro only performs live, continuously pushing the boundaries of producing original content.

Banger Podcast #29 by Yet More

For the 30th entry of Schmaus’ podcast series, give a warm welcome to Japanese artist Kai (aka Kaitaro Nakajima). Born in 1977 in Tokyo, Kai discovered DJing at the age of 17, spinning Hip-Hop records. It is in 2003 that the artist got into the Minimal House and Techno sphere and been actively producing since then.
His first release came circa 2005 on Sud Electronic, which led to several more on Alphahouse, Level Records and Enliven Music. Kai moved to Berlin in 2007, where he performed live for years to gain experience.
In the past decade, the artist released on major labels such as MERKUR Schallplatten, Little Helpers and Someone Else. Still based in Berlin today, Kaitaro focuses on live acts and music production.
In the opening of the live act, a solid groove comes in with complex tones and tasty drums. Aquatic organic textures followed by grand piano and strings parts create a contrast between acoustic instruments and the acousmatic production.
The mood shifts to a dreamy pad with trippy vocals, accented with sharp hi-hats, and switch again to minimalistic passages. These abstract moments display a clever drum programming, wet yet subtle FX use and tonal textures.
The artist juggles with psychedelic chord progressions, rich details and glitches in a seamless storytelling. The listener is trapped in a special bubble of sound with out of this world atmosphere.
Kai takes is drum patterns to another level with congas and bongos solos, to go back to serene and deep vibrations. We encounter old school timeless chords, dubby elements, and a super efficient sub bass all along the performance.
This set is a demonstration of movement in music, A-game sound design and unfolding narrative, which will leave the listener stunned on a final abstract note.

Japanese artist Kai (aka Kaitaro Nakajima) was born in 1977 and is currently based in Tokyo. He started djing with the age of 17.He took his first step by spinning Hip Hop records, but later got into the world of minimal techno and house music at around 2003. It is such a great pleasure to present you with the first Guesthouse Podcast along with other aspects which we will be bringing out this week such as our brand new website and blog.

To start things off, we have who is, one of the most understated and respected artists in our scene, Rhadoo, to provide us with a recording of his fabric set when the club turned 19 years old last October. A lot could be written and said about this artist who is so outstanding, unique and historically relevant to minimalism, however, in order to be in line with his identity and his understatement we will let the music speak for itself. 

We would like to thank fabric for granting us this recording and wish them a great night this Saturday as they have their annual RPR Soundsystem gathering. 

Back here in Bucharest, we will be celebrating with a stellar line up including Charlie, Christopher Ledger, Inner, Junki Inoue, Kozo, Praslea and Vera.
