Nick Curly & Gorge’s 8Bit imprint welcomes Dimitri Andreas and Igor Vicente onto its roster for the collaborative ‘La Bamboula’ EP this August.

Over the past two decades, the Nick Curly & Gorge helmed 8Bit label out of Mannheim, Germany has become a stable for groove driven, stripped back house sounds and has released material from the likes of Sascha Dive, Gorge, Audiojack, Josh Butler and of course Curly himself. Here though, the imprint welcomes Belgian Systematic Recordings artist Dimitri Andreas and Igor Vicente, known for his works on the likes of Visionquest, Hot Creations and Mobilee, onto the its roster.

The original mix of title-track ‘La Bamboula’ leads the release with organic percussion, a twitchy bass groove, subtly unfurling atmospherics and an amalgamation of hypnotic chants and synth flutters all intertwined with a dreamy French spoken word vocal told by Igor himself about a dream he had ''I dreamed I was partying and when I woke up I got a real hangover, I slept 8 hours but I feel like I'm in an afterparty. “La bamboula” it’s what we call it when we party hard in Belgium.''. The ‘Novox’ mix follows next, as the name would suggest, stripping things back to focus solely on the psychedelic melodic elements and bouncy rhythm.

‘Love Affair’ then rounds out the EP, taking a deep dive into glistening, delayed metallic chimes, fluttering synth melodies , cinematic strings and pulsating bass line, all underpinned with low-slung drums and a spoken word vocal of a girl talking about love with her mum. This release showcases the duo's musical synergy and further solidifies 8bit Records' reputation as a purveyor of cutting-edge tracks

Igor Vicente is a name that many may not have heard of yet, but this it is not from lack of presence in the scene. From his legendary Wild Family parties in Belgium, to his recent State Of Flow residency at world-renowned Fuse club, and his collaboration as Ultrasone, this quick rising star is becoming a tour de force within the spectrum of House and Techno. Now on his own as a solo artist, Igor is moving onward and upward with his own forward thinking productions and unique DJ sound.
His debut EP, Mystericordia is a solid first entry into the Mobilee family. This record showcases Igor’s journey into the deep and dark depths of underground House. A sound that he has already been developing over the years as a DJ in Belgium and a part of Ultrasone, which he has clearly transitioned into his style of production, but with his own flair as a solo artist.

The title track “Mystericordia” starts our journey through darker landscapes with its heavy kick drums and deep vibes it slowly brings us through a land of intrigue without losing us in monotony. After slowly introducing us to this far off land “Mallowdie” quickly picks up the pace with a vibe that is sure to fill dance floors instantly but without losing the ambience of our previous adventure.  

After taking us through this land where distorted voices speak to us like a ghost in the machine we finally reach “Dance System” the final destination on our map.  This time we are brought back a little bit to the light with complex drum patterns that keep us moving and constant elements of surprise, but never taking itself too seriously so you don’t forget that we eventually have to come back from this outer world.

Elevating the release, we have Dimitri Andreas & Igor Vicente, a seasoned power duo from Brussels, bringing a progressive twist to the originals, while our Berlin-based homie Weg offers refined minimal house versions, adding contrasting yet complementary flavors to the EP.

Esteemed Belgian artist Igor Vicente is next up on Get Physical with two terrific tracks that straddle the divide between house, minimal and techno.

This release comes three years after his label debut and after plenty of fine outings on imprints such as Hot Creations and Mobilee. Vicente’s deep, atmospheric tunes have also come under his now dormant Ultrasone project, and as a DJ he has been resident at legendary Belgium clubs Café d’Anvers and Fuse as well as promoting his own parties like Wildfamily and State of Flow.

The excellent opener ‘Endless’ features Eka and is a slippery and supple deep house track with fluttering toms and rubbery drums encouraging you to get loose. Neon xylophone melodies dance up top to bring more smoothness to this truly warm and groovy cut.

The brilliantly driving ‘Disc’o’clock’ is a prickly and slick electronic house effort. The punchy drums are kinetic and tightly programmed. Warm synths are bendy and wonky and as the pressure builds it cannot fail to cast its trippy spell.

These are two innovative house tunes from a man whose sound is constantly evolving and another fine release from the Get Physical label.

Surfing beyond genres and pointless tiers, Belgian multifaced artist Igor Vicente has been playing records nonstop over his brilliant career by taking seriously just one thing: the music. 

Part of the acclaimed duo Ultrasone or as solo, Igor got his music released on prestigious labels like Visionquest, Mobilee, Get Physical, and Jamie Jones' legendary Hot Creations. In 2005, he started his WILDFAMILY parties at Decadance in Gent, which has become one of the strongest house music parties in Belgium and then began his residency and label STATE OF FLOW at the infamous Fuse club in 2013. Over the years, the parties have hosted names like Jamie Jones, Sammy Dee, Matt John, Perlon night, Dinky, Guy Gerber, Amelie Lens, Tobi Neumann, Clive Henry, Seth Troxler, and Shaun Reeves, among others. They are the ones who have also played his marvellous productions over the years, with legends like Marco Carola and Jamie himself still banging out Igor's timeless tracks. 

From glorious house anthems to steady techno outbursts, from stripped-back minimalist rhythms to funky disco jams, Igor just let the flow go, bringing together his mixing skills, eclectic selection, and unique charisma all over the world. All this led him playing at the some of biggest electronic meccas, including DC10 and Space Ibiza, Fuse Brussels, Output NYC, Fabric in London, Berlin's renowned Watergate and Italy's house & techno sanctuary Cocorico. 

The paths given by music are endless, and so is Igor's appetite for exquisite yet refined electronic beats, constantly evolving and looking for the perfect soundtrack for your musical journey.
