A powerful, slinking opener armed with classic organ stabs, swirling synths, and driving drums, title production ‘My Bad Your Fault’ sets the tone from the first minute as DJOKO flexes his studio talents in full, while ‘My Dog Never Barks’ introduces a playful yet powerful slice of funk to proceedings as rubbery bass licks meet spacey leads throughout. ‘Unknown Territory’ opens the b-side and welcomes the arrival of a paired back affair as dubby pads float alongside shuffling percussion, before switching things up as KOLTER and closing the show via the sci-fi leaning, atmospheric synth squiggles, vocoder vocals, and rolling breaks of closing cut ‘Your Love My Pain’.

A long-standing figure within Paris and Berlin’s nightlife scenes, Talman Records boss Okain continues to impress as a DJ, producer and label head at the heart of Europe’s house landscape. Whether releasing material via labels such as Infuse, Pleasure Zone, Eastenderz or Constant Sound, or on home turf alongside the likes of Silverlinings, DJOKO, Leo Pol and Per Hammar, the Frenchman’s blend of tough house merging old and new runs deep throughout his DJ sets and productions. Kicking off 2022 in style, mid-January welcomes a label debut on LOCUS as he drops four crisp efforts across his ‘Daddy’s Groove’ EP. Opening cut ‘Mightnight Feed’ welcomes a slinking track guided by aquatic synths, sweeping electronics and bumping bass, while ‘Tavie One Tooth’ hones in on rich M1 stabs to showcase a bubbling and resonant house affair. On the B-side, ‘Brother Jack’ journeys down a lighter path, combining airy pads with jazzy interludes and subtle yet squelching low-ends, before rounding things out via the slick, classy tones of closing production ‘Green Mousse’.

Aurore 404 is back with the 2nd Volume of Cut A Rug, a series dedicated to dance numbers and relentless groovers. All 6 pieces are composed by french artists, their genre oscillating between house, deep house and italo disco. Noise Ark and Chouba are kicking off the release with great house tunes both based on steady groovy basslines. Then, Doublure, with his mesmerizing synth and out of space arpeggiator, smoothly bridges the first and the latter part of the EP.
NairLess takes over to do what he does best: some funky drums and a catchy melody dancing around a solid Morodesque bassline sequence. Then comes S.R who cooked an epic italo burner with a strong old school vibe built around playful synths answering each other - we cannot wait to blast this one on dancefloors, once they reopen.
To end this chapter, Vanderkraft dusts off the Delorean with his spacey ‘Antépénultième’, filled with transporting melodies, bouncing drums and some 303 funkiness to top it all off.
