Foilage to the World (FF 2024)

Giovanni Civitenga is a producer and DJ from Rome. Since 2014, Gio has been curating SKYAPNEA on NTS Radio, a series of broadcasts dedicated to broken club, dubbed out sounds, experimental electronics, and atonal drifts. His DJ sets as SKYAPNEA build on the high-contrast quality of the radio show, spanning from 90s chillout to contemporary experimental bass, led by a strict no-genre policy that twists together sounds from disparate contexts and eras into a rhythmic continuum. As an artist, he releases music under various monikers, mostly under the Eternal Index umbrella. His Detraex Corp moniker is reserved for slower and textural sound exploration, an experimental dub of sorts which utilizes sampling as archeology, building hypothetical music from found fragments.

Sagome is an experimental music collective and label based in London, founded around 2020 to promote DIY gigs and cross-border sound projects. Focusing on experimental music, it showcases tactile, ambient, and improvised sounds from artists like Exotic Sin, Julian Sartorius, J. TRIPP, and Rosso Polare. Run by Andrea (one half of Camboja) and Silvia (Nice Strangers), both DJs in their own right, selectors of a wide range of heady music, ranging from experimental, chuggy, off-kilter rhythms to psychedelic, dub-inspired everything.

"Moving through spaces frozen in time, touching the ephemeral traces of histories, fleeting uncontrollable movements of thought. Somewhere within that stillness, a voice surfaces — the wish that you'd talk to me, that it wouldn't have to be something special, that we could speak of anything at all. Whether the waters have turned cold after the storm, whether it's already too cold for swimming. A few minutes would do. A handful of words, carried like driftwood. Or just one. Half materialized, half dissolving — a presence that refuses to fully arrive or fully leave, haunting the edges of what can be held. It flickers between body and afterimage, between something that once touched skin and something that touches thought. Through fragmentary mindscapes, memories vanish as suddenly as they appear, reassembling themselves through the resonance of glitches, porosity, and tenderness."
